US Cellular Partner Discount Program on October 11th in Argiro
On October 11th from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM representatives from US Cellular will be available in the lobby of Argiro Hall to launch their partner discount program.

We have a very strong relationship with US Cellular with 65 University owned phones. We have built this relationship over the years on the basis of very personal and excellent service, pricing, and the best overall reception in the Fairfield area. They do cover directly most of the Midwest and allow national roaming outside this territory at no extra cost.

There will be several representatives to answer your questions. They are offering a 15% discount on service, awesome specials on phones (either financed or prepaid), plus special coupons for discounts on accessories.

This offer applies to all Staff, Faculty, and Students and their immediate families. Please bring your MUM ID and a photo ID with you.

If you need service sooner you can go to the US Cellular Store on the square that is next to the India Cafe with the above credentials. Please be sure to mention the partner discount program for MUM.

At the heart of this program is that all pre-sales and post-sales support would be handled directly with US Cellular, as the Telecommunications Department is not staffed to handle this.

We hope this adds an additional benefit for our beloved Faculty, Staff, and students. (to be announced soon)

P.S: We also have a business relationship with Verizon but their program for our people hasn't been solidified yet.

Sincerely,

Michael A Goodleman
Director of Telecommunications
Nine Days of Mother Divine and Victory Day

The next 11-day Maharishi National Yagya SM performance for the U.S. will begin on the evening of October 9, and coincide with Navaratri, the Nine Days of Mother Divine. The Yagya will culminate on Vijaya Dashami, Victory Day.

Mother Divine represents the unbounded creativity and supreme nourishing quality of Nature—the fundamental aspects of Nature that bring support and success to every endeavor and every field of life. Victory Day is the culmination of the Nine Days and signifies the ultimate triumph of good in the world.

Our Maharishi Jyotish SM  Pandits emphasize that this is the most powerful period in the Vedic calendar to sponsor Yagyas—when the Laws of Nature are liveliest for fulfillment of desires in all areas: success and prosperity, health and longevity, knowledge and enlightenment.

Victory Day, October 19, is an exceptionally auspicious day to launch new endeavors and make resolutions for success—particularly when supported by participation in a Yagya.

The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:

Increasing harmony, positivity, and spiritual awakening for the United States and its people

Deep discounts for the DHOAD GYPSIES OF RAJASTHAN

Performance at the Sondheim--Saturday October 16, 7:30 pm

The DHOAD Gypsies of Rajasthan are known as the “Cultural Ambassadors of Rajasthan”, with over 1100 concerts in 95 countries over the last 16 years. Their productions pay homage to the rich culture and tradition of Rajasthan: the land of kings and queens, sumptuous palaces, and vibrant colorful spectacular celebrations of life exploring the inspiring musical heritage that has been passed down over generations.

One reviewer described them as, “Dressed in stunning national costumes, this sparkling bazaar of troubadours, dancers and fakirs hypnotize the audience and wrap them in silken tapestries of imaginary wonder. Fusions of Sufi, Hindu and even Bollywood styles came to a climax with the mesmeric, swirling dances so enchanting, it was though a magic carpet had been flown in from an Arabian nights... A magical night and a miracle of rare device.”

Tickets available for faculty and staff for only $10 (regularly $30-49). Just show your badge at the Sondheim box office or call 472.2787. For more info, click  here

Health Check / The no fluff case for transcendental meditation
By Sophie Vaughan   September 19, 2018

Over the years I’ve been called to meditation at times when I was fraught with internal chaos and felt meditation held something that could bring me some peace.

I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve never answered the call, but last Sunday I came one step closer and attended the free introductory talk at the Norwalk office of the Transcendental Meditation Program, a global nonprofit, known commonly as TM, with 180 centers in the U.S. In a large nondescript building, the Norwalk TM center could be confused for a doctor’s office with its bare walls and waiting room chairs. Five middle-aged people, one who brought her son, made up the class attendees. None of them were overtly hippy-dippy and nearly everyone said they wanted to their reduce anxiety and have a better quality of life. All of us were referred to TM by someone who practiced it. I myself chose TM over other meditation techniques because my sister’s friend Antonia swears by it.

High blood pressure: Doing THIS easy activity cuts hypertension risk without medication

HIGH blood pressure symptoms include fatigue and nausea. This is how to reduce hypertension risk without medication.

By  Laura Mitchell  September 11, 2018
A study led by Dr. Robert Schneider, director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, IA, found Transcendental Meditation reduces high blood pressure.

According to researchers stress can contribute to hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Meditation has been proven to drastically reduce stress levels and therefore bring down blood pressure.

Transcendental Meditation involves sitting comfortably and closing the eyes for 20 minutes, twice a day, to achieve a quality of rest in the mind and body.
