Paraguay Teacher Exchange Program:
Did you know that ESU partners with the country of Paraguay to provide teaching and cultural exchanges each year? We are looking for people to serve as "Host Families" for our visiting teachers from Paraguay. The responsibilities include:
-
Hosting one person for about 4 weeks this winter
-
Providing meals
-
Providing a bedroom/closet space for the visiting teacher
-
Coordinating transportation to their school
-
ESU will take care of their transportation to and from the airport.
-
ESU will provide some evening events
-
ESU will provide each host family about $600 to reimburse them for food and entertainment costs
If you are able to help with housing, please contact Kelly Bolin in Human Resources at 341-2330. We are looking for volunteers for one month this winter.
The ability to speak and write English and Spanish is a much-needed skill in order to better serve the students and parents of Emporia Schools. Classified and licensed staff are eligible to be considered for the Spanish stipend program. Candidates will take separate verbal and written exams in Spanish. Depending upon your proficiency levels in Spanish, stipends for licensed staff will be $250 - $1000 per year and stipends for classified staff may range from .25 to $1.00 per hour. You do not have to qualify for both verbal and writing to receive a stipend. Proficiency in just one area will also earn a stipend. If you are interested in more information on how to receive this stipend, please contact Human Resources at 341-2330. If you have questions about the test or to schedule the test, please contact Felix Lizarraga 341-2200. It is expected that staff members accepting this stipend will serve as an interpreter and/or translator according to their Spanish proficiency level when reasonably asked to do so by their supervisor.
