The artists of the Copley Society of Art have a Facebook group to hang out and exhange ideas. It is JUST for the artist members and is called the "Copley Society of Artists." We have over 350 members scattered across the world and we see this as an opportunity to share experiences and revelations as we pursue our endeavors. Nicole Alger has a solo show called "Sticks and Stones" at the Gunn Memorial Library in Washington, CT from October 6 - November 11. Call 860-868-7586 for more information.

Louise Arnold has a show called "Inland/Island" of landscapes of Vermont and PEI at The Gallery of Villageworks in West Acton, MA until December 9. The reception will be on October 28th from 4-6pm.

Bobby Baker, CA, will be a featured panelist at the 2018 Arts Foundation of Cape Cod "Creative Exchange" on Friday, October 19 at the Tilden Arts Center in West Barnstable, MA. Continuing the theme from his popular presentations of "YOU Marketing YOU - Marketing for Artists," the topic will be "Promote, Connect, and Engage: How to Build an Audience for Your Work."

Sean Flood is having an exhibition of paintings and prints entitled Homecomingat North Hill, 865 Central Street, Needham, MA. There will be a reception and gallery talk on Wednesday, October 17 at 3pm. Reservations are required and seating is limited so RSVP at 781-202-5744 or [email protected]

Jeannette Fournier's painting "Social Networking" was accepted into the Biennial North American Open Show of the New England Watercolor Society. The show is on view at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury, MA from September 16 - January 13, 2019.

Anne Heywood, CA, is celebrating the Arts at ArtWalk Waldoboro in Maine at her gallery, The Heywood Gallery, on the second Saturdays from June - October, 4 - 7pm.

Suzanne Hodes, CM, is exhibiting four paintings at 360 Longwood Avenue through January 2019. Visitors may view the works any weekday between 7am and 7pm. Half of the proceeds of sales go for cancer research via Art In Giving.

Barney Levitt, CM, has a solo show at The Stewart Clifford Gallery in Provincetown, MA from September 28th - October 17th.

Kathryn McMahon is in the Plein Air Artists Colorado National Show from October 5-28 at the Sorrel Sky Gallery in Durango. She is also in the American Society of Marine Artists' Juried Exhibition and Sale from November 1-27 at the Principle Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina. Additionally, she will be in the Women Artists of the West 48th National Show in Bartlesville, OK until November 4th.

Jack Morefield is donating one of his paintings to ARCK's annual auction, benefit, and gala on October 26th.

Martha Munroe, CM, has been invited to exhibit her painting The Walk Home at the Fitchburg Museum from October 4 - October 29.

Mary Rose O'Connell will be showing her triptych Metamorphic Rocks in Gallery Twist's (formerly Gallery Blink) fall exhibition, "About Time." The exhibition is on view from September 28 - October 21.

The Safarani sisters will have a solo show of their video-paintings titled "Reincarnation" at the Elga Wimmer Gallery in New York from October 18-31. The gallery is open 12-6pm or by appointment. Contact [email protected] for more information.

Tony Schwartz, CA, is showing photographs in the Barcelona Foto Biennale, 5th Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography from October 4 - 21.

Jeanne Rosier Smith, CM, will be showing two of her works in the Principle Gallery Charleston's Marine Show in November.

Richard Whitney's portrait of Lore and Pat McGovern, founders of the McGovern Institute, MIT, will be on view at Francesca Anderson Fine Art until October 27th.

Joyce Zavorskas will be teaching a monotype class at her print studio in Orleans. Classes are on October 22-25 and October 16 - November 5. The classes are $150 for all four sessions of class + $20 materials fee. To register call Joyce at 508-237-3615. A materials list will be sent upon registration. A wide range of contemporary and traditional techniques will be covered. Demonstrations each day will help to develop individual explorations. Beginner to advanced students are welcome.

WORKSHOPS

 

Eli Cedrone, CA, will host "A Brush with Bermuda" on November 2, 3 & 4, a workshop in Bermuda where participants will learn the fundamentals of painting outdoors while following in the footsteps of Winslow Homer and others who've found inspiration on the island. Eli will also host workshops in Florida through the Naples Art Association from February 18 - 20, and through the Centers for the Arts Bonita Springs from March 4- 7. From May 20 - 29, 2019, Eli will be hosting "A Brush with Portugal," a painting workshop along the coastline of Cascais, Portugal. Participants will stay at the Albatroz Hotel, which is within walking distance to the village shops, cafes, and historic sites. Cost to participate is $3,295. CALLS TO ARTISTS

The Newton Free Library's deadline is December 7th at 12pm for proposals of two-dimensional, original work by local artists for July-December 2019 shows. October 31st deadline for the Water Media Showcase, AQUA FEST 2018. Eligibility pertains to paintings that are created with water-based media - watercolor, acrylic, gouache, ink, tempera, etc, and to all artists worldwide. To apply online, click here.

The Los Altos Public Art Program has a January 15, 2019 deadline to submit works in a variety of media for the city parks and streets. Accepted artists receive a $5,000 stipend. For more information, click here.

The Copley Society of Art is accepting proposals from artists who wish to have their art featured for a small exhibition on the back wall of the Lower Gallery. The intention is to make the wall available for artists who have not yet compiled a body of work necessary for a full Back Bay Room exhibition or solo show in the Upper Gallery. Proposals will be considered at the regularly scheduled October and April meetings of the Art Committee, but may be submitted at any time. DE-CONSTRUKT, an artist residency in Brooklyn, NY, is open for applications. Live, work, and engage with the local community of Red Hook, Brooklyn. Share a beautiful, spacious 2600 sq. ft. loft with skylights, a photography darkroom, art book library, wet sinks, and event space. Private fully-furnished bedroom with separate studio, with shared bathroom and kitchen. It also includes accessible on-street parking and roof access with a view of Manhattan. All participants must make a public event in Red Hook, be it an exhibition, artist talk, screening, or workshop. Artists are required to stay at least 2 weeks. Pier 36, located in New York City, is taking applications for the fourth edition of the "Art on Paper" fair. The fair features 80 top galleries from around the world to present paper-based art. Visit thepaperfair.com for information and to apply.

The Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia, located in Venice, Italy, offers 1 to 12 week residencies to professional and practicing artists throughout the year. Work projects are in printmaking, book arts, drawing & painting, illustration, and calligraphy. Resident artists have access to the Scuola's studios 7 days a week. The Scuola is located in the heart of Venice and is equipped for all printmaking methods, including lithography, letterpress, serigraphy, intaglio, and photo-mechanical processes.
