Dear Families,

Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. We invite you to come to meet teachers and support staff, to be updated on progress and to establish those important lines of communication. Conferences will begin at 4:30 pm and will end at 8:00 pm. In days gone by, conferences were the only way to monitor progress. In the era of instant communication, you're able to access info in real-time via IC Parent Portal and can connect with teachers via emails and classroom webpages. Such virtual connections are no substitute however for the personal touch of visiting with the teachers that spend each day with your children. Stop on by and please be sure to say hello.

As we progress through the school year, please know that we are here to support you and your child. Do not hesitate to reach out to us when needed. We're here for you.

Follow Up to Date Safe Assembly:
Monday's Date Safe Assembly:
The buzz around school on Monday was about the Date Safe Assembly hosted by Mike Domitrz, the founder of the Date Safe Project. The fun, thought-provoking show involved the discussion of healthy, safe and consensual relationships, as well as tips for making better, safer choices. There will be a follow-up activity in Advisories on Wednesday and students will also have an opportunity to sign a pledge poster during lunch on Wednesday.

Student Services: 
Freshman Parent/Guardian Info Session:
October 9th, 6:30-7:00pm, PAC. Stop by during conferences to meet Student Services staff. Come hear from your school counselors about tips to make the most out of high school. We will discuss resources available to your students to help them academically and provide helpful tips about topics such as executive functioning.

Senior Parent/Guardian Info Session: October 11th, 6:30-7:00pm, PAC. Stop by during conferences to talk with Student Services staff about any post-high school questions. We will go over key reminders about transcripts, graduation requirements, and more. 

ZAPS ACT Test-Prep Seminar: Monday & Tuesday, October 15 & 16, 2018, 6:30 PM-9:00 PM. Register  here. Limited scholarships available through Student Services.



School Hours: 
OHS doors are open for students beginning at 7:00 am each morning. The school day begins at 8:00 am and dismisses at 3:30 pm. Students remaining in the building after dismissal should be in a supervised setting. Such settings would include sports or club activities or homework club. If you have an absence to report please reach out to our attendance office (835-4308 A-K and 835-4309 L-Z). 
Panther After School Study/ Saturday Academy:
Panther After School Study (PASS) is a homework club held in the LMC Monday-Thursday from 3:30 pm- 5:00 pm. PASS is supervised by OHS teachers and is a place for students to complete work, retake assessments or to study in a quiet setting. For those in need of transportation, there is a late bus that picks up students in the bus lane each night at 5:00 pm.

Beginning this coming Saturday, OHS will open the LMC from 9:00 am- 11:00 am and staff it with teachers to support student learning. We call this Saturday Academy. There is no need to sign-up. This is a drop-in open study time. Students can arrange to re-take assessments. If you arrange a re-take with your teacher they will drop the assessment in the Saturday Academy folder and it'll be ready to go on the weekend.

GIRLS BASKETBALL FRESHMAN ORIENTATION NIGHT

  • Open to all current freshman girls interested in playing basketball this season.  Any skill level and interest are welcome to attend.

  • Participate in a small workout session
  • Great opportunity to Have Fun and be a part of the Oregon Basketball Family during the upcoming season.  Valuable amounts of playing time opportunities available as well!

If you are wondering what to do with a graduation gown at home from a recent grad, you might consider donating it back to OHS for use with a student in need. You can either drop it off in the main office or call us 608 835-4301 and we will arrange a pick-up. Thanks.
