One of our favorite WLT member benefits is giving recently published authors the opportunity to promote their books at festivals across the state. We're so excited to once again participate in the   San Antonio Book Festival    (April 7, 2018), where we'll have 45-minute slots available for members interested in promoting, signing, and selling copies of their books.

Grant Applications Now Open for Houston Artists and Cultural Nonprofits In Need of Disaster Relief from Harvey Arts Recovery Fund

Houston artists and arts organizations can now apply for funding provided by the Harvey Arts Recovery Fund (HARF), which supports Houston artists, performers, musicians and arts and culture organizations in need of disaster assistance.

Learn a layering approach to revision: sweeping through your manuscript and addressing one issue at a time. The instructor will discuss a logical sequence of "layers" and experiment with different formats for creating a revision plan that works for you and your manuscript.

New Releases
Mindy Reed (Austin) announces the publication of her short story collection 
Women of a Certain Age: Short Stories of the Twentieth Century published by Memories Publishing. The inter-generational collection portrays women in various stages of life. Both the print book and e-book are available on Amazon .

Marisa Wolf (Houston) announces her first novel,  Assassin , co-written with Kacey Ezell, out now from Chris Kennedy Publishing. A science fiction story of the deadliest hunters in the galaxy, the book is about a race of cat-like assassins and the intrigue and danger they must navigate. Available on  Amazon .

Sue Meredith Cleveland and Dixie Lee Evatt, aka Meredith Lee (Austin), were featured in a four-part article for Texas AARP about their partnership and book Shrouded: A Crispin Leads Mystery. Read Part 1 here, Part 2 here, & Part 3 here. Part 4 will be published on February 28.

Events
Antonio Ruiz-Camacho  (Austin) will read as part of the Joynes Reading Room Literary Series on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. His debut story collection  Barefoot Dogs  won the Jesse H. Jones Award for Best Book of Fiction, and was named a Best Book of 2015 by  Kirkus Reviews, San Francisco Chronicle, Texas Observer  and PRI's  The World .

March Open Office Hours will be on Thursday, March 8.  The deadline to sign up is Thursday, March 1, at noon.  Writers' League m embers can meet one-on-one with a WLT staffer (in person or call in). This member benefit is available to all members regardless of their city of residence.  Current members only. 

Due to limited availability, please email [email protected] to sign up. Please be sure to indicate whether or not you'd like to speak in person or over the phone (and provide your phone number), and outline what questions you'd like to discuss so we can be prepared for your appointment. Before you send an email, please read the OOH guidelines available here.
