Save The Date! Municipal Government Day at the Capitol is March 27th!
Plan now to attend this popular half-day event that will take place at the Oklahoma State Capitol on March 27th. Hosted by OML and the Mayors Council of Oklahoma, you will have the opportunity to network with other municipal officials, hear the latest information on legislative issues, visit with your legislative representatives about municipal issues and meet the student winner of the "If I Were Mayor" essay contest. This event is free for OML members and lunch will be served.
Google Expansion is Great News for the economy of Pryor Area
On Friday, February 16th, Google announced that it will spend $600 million for another four-story data center in Pryor, OK. This will bring the company's total investment in Oklahoma to at least $2.5 billion. Mayor of Pryor, Jimmy Tramel says "They are a huge part of the community, and I mean that in every aspect." Next New Officials Institute March 15th in Lawton
On March 15th in Lawton, OML will host a New Officials Institute at the Great Plains Technology Center. Throughout the year OML provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for newly elected and appointed officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on municipal issues. 

The NOI teaches the statutorily required topics such as Municipal Budget Requirements, the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, the Oklahoma Open Records Act, Ethics, Procedures for Conducting Meetings, Conflict of Interest, and Purchasing Procedures
 
State law requires each person elected for the first time to a position of a municipality on or after January 1, 2005, OR appointed for the first time on or after July 1, 2006, to attend an institute for municipal officials. The statute is codified at Title 11 O.S., Section 8-114.   For future dates or more information, see the  NOI page on our website .

Register Today for the OML & OMUP Water/Environmental Summit on March 16th
OML and the Oklahoma Municipal Utility Providers (OMUP) are holding the Water/Environmental Summit on March 16th at the Rose State College Professional Training Center in Midwest City. This summit provides essential updates on water and environmental issues for cities and towns. Emergency Preparedness Workshop is Coming to Idabel on March 16th
The Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) is excited to partner with Oklahoma Emergency Management (OEM) to provide the Emergency Preparedness Workshop. Emergencies can hit anytime in Oklahoma. Is your community prepared? Join OML and OEM for this one day workshop on emergency management and planning. There is NO CHARGE for this event and is offered as a service to our municipalities. The training will be conducted by Oklahoma Emergency Management and is designed for Elected Officials, Municipal Staff, and Emergency Managers to attend together.
