Please help us welcome Terrance Todome to the  Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center  team!

Greetings! My name is Terrance Todome and I'm very excited to be joining the Oklahoma Public Health Training Center team as a graduate research assistant for the Spring 2018. I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma then moved out to Colorado where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Native American Culture/Indigenous Studies from Fort Lewis College. Being a Native American from the Ponca, Comanche, Kiowa, and Otoe tribes of Oklahoma I have worked with, and been a part of many different cultural events with different tribes across Oklahoma as well as Colorado which I use to help guide my passions. My hobbies include traveling as a Native American dancer and performer across much of the United States that has provided me with many positive experiences with people from a variety of backgrounds. My academic interest includes working with underserved Native American populations at the individual and community levels with my main areas of focus being suicide risk reduction among youth, substance abuse, historical trauma, and resiliency. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health degree in the department of Health Promotion Sciences at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). I'm also an avid Star Wars fan, a big supporter of all things OU, and I love Liverpool Football Club! I very much look forward to working with the South Central Public Health Training Center to complete our objectives and gain great experience. Thank You!

Tribal Education courses added to the  Tulane Learning Management System

Weaving the Threads of Culture course
The Region 6 South Central Public Health Training Center is pleased to announce the addition of 3 new tribal education courses to the Tulane Learning Management System. 

Data into Action for Tribes: Introduction to Epidemiology, Data into Action for Tribes: Publicly-Available Data Sources and Weaving the Threads of Culture: Working Effectively with American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) are now available for enrollment.

 

"We are excited to add several new tribal health courses to our learning management system. NNPHI 18th Annual Conference and Public Health Workforce Forum registration deadline quickly approaching

The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) is proud to announce its 18th annual conference, to be held on May 22-24, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Since 2001, the NNPHI Annual Conference is the only national meeting that supports and highlights the work of the nation's public health institutes. NNPHI members lead conference programming that explores fresh concepts and strategies for supporting healthy communities at the local, state, and federal levels.

Featured Course Bundle: Leadership Communication

After completing the Leadership Communication course bundle, users will be able to demonstrate written and oral communication skills that are needed as a leader or manager in the public health setting. No matter how effective a leader or manager you already are, this bundle is designed to refresh and refine the communication skills needed to succeed in today's fast-paced and stressful public health environment.
