10. Launching Regional Mixers
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Celebrated Philadelphia’s Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week by hosting a mixer in partnership with the Enterprise Center, Milligan & Company LLC, Jack Duggan and the U.S. Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) in Philadelphia, PA comprised of minority business owners from DE/PA/NJ

  • Partnered with Aviation Career Services (ACS) on a networking mixer in Chicago, IL comprised of ACDBE, DBE, MBE and WBE firms and Chicago Department of Aviation representatives. We also celebrated new AMAC members Chicago O’Hare and Midway Airports
9. Collaborating with AAAE On a Diversity Survey 
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Partnered with the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) to conduct a survey on the diversity composition and inclusion programs at airports

  • Distributed to 305 U.S. commercial airports

  • Received 61 responses (Response Breakdown: 8 large hub airports; 13 medium hub airports; 16 small hub airport and 24 non-hub primary airports)
8. Strengthening Car Rental Work Group Initiatives
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Presented a webinar on DBE certification to the minority car dealers of National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers (NAMAD)

  • Partnering with 20+ airports on a National Car Rental Supplier Diversity Outreach Day in Spring 2019
7. Partnering With C OMTO to Aid Women and Minorities in the Transportation Industry
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Created a strategic alliance with COMTO designed to enhance the business opportunities of minority and women-owned enterprises as well as professional development and career advancement of minorities and women in the airport and surface transportation industries

  • Signed the agreement at COMTO’s 47th National Meeting and Training Conference on July 28 – August 1, 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland
6. Expanding AMAC Academy Webinars
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hosted 9 webinars with over 250 participants collectively. Topics included: Is Your Business Protected from Cyber Attacks?; New Tax Law Highlights for Businesses and Airports; Airport ADA Essentials; How to Do Business with the Houston Airport System; Town Hall for DBELOs; Safeguarding Your Goods and Services in the Marketplace with Patents, Trades & Copyrights; Show Me the Money – ACDBE Financing Options Lessons Learned and Recruiting Advice that Every Small Business Owner Should Know

  • Partnered with various airport, corporate and government members including: NGEN, LLC; K & L Gates, LLP; Milligan & Company, LLC; Houston Airport System; Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL); Salt Lake City International Airport; United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); H&H Hospitality, Palazzo Concessions; DBE Loans and Vital Business Solutions (VBS)
5. Hosting the Annual Leadership Summit on Capitol Hill
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke Representative (D-NY 9th District) keynoted the summit

  • Worked with the U.S. DOT and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the regulations and policies governing the airport DBE/ACDBE program

  • Strengthened links with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA)

  • Advocated for legislation advancing diversity and inclusion in the airport industry to Members of Congress and Congressional staff
4. Three Top Airport CEOs Join AMAC’s Board of Directors
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Rochelle “Chellie” Cameron, CEO, Philadelphia International Airport; Deborah Flint, CEO, Los Angeles World Airports and Ricky D. Smith, CEO, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport join AMAC's Board of Directors these industry influencers are poised to make a difference for minority and women-owned businesses 
3. Expanding the AMAC Political Action Committee (PAC) Reach
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Capitol Hill Round Table – AMAC Board Chairman John Clark of SSP America participated in a round table discussion on “Insider Threat at Airports” hosted by the House Committee on Homeland Security Chaired by Congressman Katko (R-NY) 

  • 5-Year FAA Re-authorization Bill – AMAC commends both the House and Senate for its inclusion of two key Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) provisions in the bill, sections 157 and 150

  • Hosted 2 inaugural AMAC PAC receptions raising over $30,000 respectively
2. Supporting Youth Through the AMAC Foundation
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Received $50,000 from AECOM to fund the AECOM FLY (Future Led by Youth) Endowment 

  • Provided over $30,000 in scholarships to 23 students interested in pursuing careers in aviation
1. Hosting Our Sold Out 34th Annual Airport Business Diversity Conference: Inspiring Possibilities
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sold out conference with over 1,000 attendees

  • Keynote speakers included: Earl Butch Graves Jr., President & CEO, Black Enterprise; Sherrexcia 'Rexy' Rolle, Vice President of Operations & General Counsel, Western Air and Angela Rye, Empowermenteur, Advocate & Political Strategist, IMPACT Strategies

  • Hosted first Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Prime Breakfast 

  • Expanded conference training and created 4 workshop tracks: Concessions; Professional Development; Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)  

  • Launched first emerging leaders networking reception in partnership with the Airports Consultants Council (ACC)
