Celebration Highlights Efforts to Impact Community On November 14 the Community Foundation hosted the 6th annual Celebration of Community at the African American Museum of Iowa. The event theme was Good People + Good Ideas = Community Impact, and the program featured seven stories of efforts to build community. New Fund Aims to Create a Safe, Equitable and Thriving Community In October the City of Cedar Rapids, Linn County and the Cedar Rapids Community School District announced a partnership with the Community Foundation to establish a fund to address local youth violence. The Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities Fund will make grants in pursuit of the goals outlined by the SET Task Force.

Navigating the Naturalization Process with the Help of Catholic Charities For refugees, navigating the naturalization process can be expensive, time-consuming, and can even involve the risk of deportation. Immigration Legal Services, provided by Catholic Charities, helps clients stabilize their immigration situations and apply for permanent residency or citizenship. The Community Foundations Program Fund helped Catholic Charities provide these services for immigrants.

Continuing Efforts to Endow Nonprofits Clothe-A-Child, Inc. has become the newest recipient of the Community Foundations Endowment Challenge Grant. The organization, which provides clothing to children in need, will receive up to $25,000 in matching funds as support in establishing an Agency Endowment Fund. The Community Foundation holds over 100 Agency Endowment Funds for local nonprofit organizations to assist with general operating support.
