Family Nature Day at Warriparinga
The City of Marion and Trees for Life are hosting a family nature day to kick off the April school holidays. Learn, play and explore with a range of free nature-based activities including children's nature craft and games, tree planting, nature journaling, learn about frogs, water bugs and nextboxes, wildlife encounters from Animals Anonymous, cultural walks with guides from the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre, nature walks and more! Sausage sizzle and healthy snacks provided or bring yourself a picnic lunch and make a day of it.

Glenthorne National Park Open Days
Come along to an open day where you can access the Glenthorne property for the first time, take a guided ranger tour and share your ideas for the proposed Glenthorne National Park.
Glenthorne' is currently a privately-owned working farm located on Majors Road O'Halloran Hill, but it's set to become the cornerstone of the new Glenthorne National Park.
Three open days will be held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of April and
registrations are essential.

Simplicity, Sustainability and Self-Sufficiency Workshop
Join d'Arcy Lunn for an inspiring workshop exploring the idea that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. d'Arcy will talk about his project 'Happy, simply': a sustainable lifestyle model and education project promoting simplicity, sustainability and self-sufficiency. The end product: two 'tiny houses' built for less than $10,000!
d'Arcy has given over 900 presentations to 85,000+ people and worked with leading development, environmental and social justice organisations and people. His self-initiated concept and organisation, Teaspoons of Change, focuses on the personal choices, decisions and actions that have a positive impact on people and the planet.
This session is part of the Common Thread Program of monthly sustainability workshops.

Native Bees and Wild Pollinators Workshop
Want to learn about native bees and other wild pollinators, and how to attract them to your garden? In this workshop and guided walk you will discover what native bees look like, their role in conservation and food security, what they need to thrive, plus tips to attract and care for native bees in your backyard. You will also find out about other pollinators in your patch and how to join the National 'Wild Pollinator Count' to put them on the map.
Places are limited and bookings are essential.

Design Your Dream Coastal Garden
Do you have a coastal property with a garden that is not standing up to harsh coastal environments? Would you like to transform your existing garden into a showcase garden or design a new garden from scratch?
You can take part in a free hands-on coastal garden workshop where you can learn how to design, establish and maintain your own coastal garden using local native species with one-on-one support. Spaces are limited so get in quick to reserve your place.

Cooler Greener Adelaide - Shaping Our Future City
What are the impacts of a business-as-usual approach to urban growth on liveability in our communities?
What are the benefits of cooler, greener design and planning?
What is the role of water in the creation of a resilient, green Adelaide?
What can the community, government and industry do to contribute to a resilient, green Adelaide - in our homes, backyards, streetscapes and neighbourhoods?
Water Sensitive SA is hosting a forum and exhibition to consider these very questions. Join their lively MC Matthew Wright-Simon together with a panel of experts, as they explore how to create better communities through rethinking how we plan and design our cities; urban greening; and sustainable, integrated urban water management.

Applications Open for the 2019 City of Marion Community Leadership Program
Do you have a deep sense of community and would like to learn more about leadership? Then we are looking for you!
The Community Leadership Program aims to create community capacity building within the City of Marion. It gives participants the skills and confidence to develop their own community project and to motivate and encourage others to assume leadership roles in the community. The program is a combination of interactive workshops and offsite project work, working with council staff and community mentors.
Applications are open until 29 March.

2019 Youth Environment Council
South Australian students in Years 7 to 10 who are passionate about sustainability are invited to apply for the Youth Environment Council. If you know students that are interested in environmental issues or student voice, please pass on this information and direct them to the application form link below.
