We Need You.

Dear Resister,

We needed Resist 50 years ago when I co-founded it, and we need it just as much today.

For as long as there have been people in power, there have been people oppressed. And Resist has sought to support to those resisting that oppression for the last half a century. When President Trump enacted his "zero-tolerance policy" at the border, he ripped apart thousands of families - separating children from parents for what could be forever.  In the face of this great injustice, Americans took to the streets in protest with chants declaring "keep families together," and ended the family separation policy.  Institutions are powerful but are nothing when challenged by the collective power of outraged citizens.

I am a founder and a staunch supporter of Resist because they channel funds to the hundreds of grassroots groups across the country who refuse to feel helpless and refuse to be obedient. Resist is a major force in helping the progressive resistance in the US stay alive and kicking. And we need your help. I urge you to help advance our cause- and yours - with a gift today.

Through the years, I've been gratified to watch us support over 6,000 dynamic grassroots activist groups - all of them working for the kind of progressive change I know we both believe in. How much we can give away in 2019 depends on your gift now. That's because every penny we grant to worthy activist groups comes from friends like you - and we depend on nearly half of it to come in at this time of year.

History proves that if governments succeed in making us feel powerless, we will be obedient. When we overcome this delusion of helplessness, real change is possible. Please be generous and donate today.  We need you.

Sincerely,

Noam Chomsky
