We needed Resist 50 years ago when I co-founded it, and we need it just as much today.
For as long as there have been people in power, there have been people oppressed. And Resist has sought to support to those resisting that oppression for the last half a century. When President Trump enacted his "zero-tolerance policy" at the border, he ripped apart thousands of families - separating children from parents for what could be forever. In the face of this great injustice, Americans took to the streets in protest with chants declaring "keep families together," and ended the family separation policy. Institutions are powerful but are nothing when challenged by the collective power of outraged citizens.
I am a founder and a staunch supporter of Resist because they channel funds to the hundreds of grassroots groups across the country who refuse to feel helpless and refuse to be obedient.
