Latino Outreach Is a Priority for DOVES
DOVES is continuing to work to ensure that all members of our community can access the services they need. This includes those individuals who may be Spanish speaking or face other cultural barriers to seeking services. DOVES now has two Spanish speaking advocates on staff: Laura Morales-Rojas and Rosa Diaz. We’ve also partnered with Safe Harbor Catholic Counseling, which is an organization that provides low cost therapeutic counseling to individuals whose primary language is Spanish. In addition to these services, DOVES has also begun offering our Window Between Worlds art therapy class to our Spanish speaking clientele (facilitated in Spanish). If you or someone you know is Spanish speaking, and is interested in receiving services for domestic violence related issues, please reach out to us at 909-866-1546 or at info@doves4help.org
Teen Dating Violence Heart Project
For Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, students at Big Bear High School participated in the heart project. Students depicted how they wanted to be treated in a relationship and displayed their artwork.
Lorrie's House Success Story - Wrapped in Warmth
A recent client shared with DOVES sthat she felt so blessed to be here at Lorrie’s House. She felt that she could finally rest both her body and her mind. She compared being here to the Eskimo ritual of throwing an individual up in a large blanket where that person knows they are supported by everyone holding the blanket. She felt supported by a large family while here. At this point she began to cry because it had been so long since she had experienced the support of a family.
