Society has taken a "dark turn"
since the turn of the 21st century, embracing globalization of a fear of others, according to ethnomusicologist Peter Hoesing. Hoesing, '03, will discuss this turn in "Multiculturalism and its Malcontents," at the annual Phi Beta Kappa Symposium in the Humanities, part of Homecoming weekend.
The lecture begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 27, in the Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall.
Jazz Night
will take place on Friday, October 26 from 8:30-10:30 p.m. in Marty’s. Luther’s Jazz Band and Jazz Orchestra will perform, and the dance floor will be open to all. Join SAC Homecoming and Luther’s talented jazz groups for a swinging celebration of homecoming week!
Featuring the college's premiere touring ensembles
, the Luther College Homecoming Concert will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 28, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. Performing at the concert are Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Baldwin; Concert Band, under the direction of guest director Jack Stamp and Nordic Choir, conducted by Andrew Last. In addition, four music awards will be presented.
The Luther SAC Homecoming Parade
will take place on Saturday, October 27 at 10 a.m. in downtown Decorah. The parade will start on Water Street south of Decorah High School and end at Luther’s campus. Various student organizations, athletic teams, and residence halls will represent Luther in the parade. Join SAC in celebrating Luther’s homecoming this Saturday morning!
Pizza and Blanket making with FOCUS & Outreach
— Friday, October 26 from 6:00- 9:00pm in the Center for Faith and Life, Melanchton Room (Room 205) join the FOCUS community & Outreach teams in eating pizza and tying blankets for Lutheran World Relief. The CAF is closed for homecoming festivities so it is a great opportunity to connect with Luther’s faith community & FREE FOOD!

will present its annual fashion show to showcase and celebrate the rich culture and diversity of Luther, with fashion from across the globe as well as styles designed by students on campus specifically for the show.
The International Fashion Show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 27, in the Center for the Arts Atrium. Tickets are available at the show for $3 per person.
