A Note from our Deacons and Elders
MAINTAINING A SAFE AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL WHO GATHER AT FPC is a very important priority for your deacons and elders. At the same time, we want to provide a very warm and welcoming place for all who would choose to participate in ministries on our campus. In recent months your officers, led by a security team made up of both deacons and elders, has been working to develop a plan that will meet both of those goals excellently. As the first step in that plan you will soon see a uniformed off-duty police officer on our church campus at many, and ultimately at all, of our church events and activities. The visible presence of this officer may deter some who might be a source of risk to our safety. But, also, that officer's presence on campus will enable immediate response in the rare case that the potential for an unsafe situation arises. He will be in radio contact with all sections of our campus and will be able to respond quickly, and will be trained to respond appropriately. Please do all that you can to make the officer know we welcome his presence with us. We want you to be aware of the officer's presence being an intentional part of our security plan so that you will know that his presence is not an indicator that a problem exists. It simply means we are working to continually care for the safety of all of those whom God brings to us. We will continue to keep you informed of other steps in this process as they are implemented. If you have questions, please feel free to contact incoming Deacon Chairman, Tim Morgan, who also chairs the Security Task Force.
