CSDS
looks forward to seeing everyone at our next dance on Saturday, July 21st, at the Municipal Arts Center. Eddie + Adela return to be our Lesson Instructors and DJs for the evening. They'll teach a Beginner West Coast Swing lesson from 7-8 pm, included in admission, and then be our DJs from 8-11 pm, including our Westie Power Hour (10-11 pm) when the music will be all West Coast Swing (or crossover)! Come beat the heat in the well air conditioned space at the MAC ~ bring a sweater as we'll have the A/C cranking!
And ... just after our super quick Announcements, we're having a for fun Jack & Jill Contest!! Here's how it will work:
1) Limited to the first 8 Leaders and 8 Followers who sign up. This is for dancers of ALL levels! It's free and sign up here!
2) Leaders and Followers will be randomly paired up and will dance to 2 short songs.
3) Judges will be randomly chosen at the dance; YOU could be a Judge! :-)
4) Judging criteria will be teamwork and entertainment!
5) All participants will receive a goodie bag and the winning couple will receive an additional prize!
6) This is for fun! This is gonna be fun!
ADMISSION:
- $10 for CSDS Members
- $13 for Non-Members
- $5 for Students (FT w/ID), First-Time Attendees and
CSDS Members with July Birthdays!
- Children Under 16 are Free! (childcare not provided)
FOOTWEAR: please wear either dance shoes or light-colored soles; whatever you wear must be non-marking.

Central VA Team Competition Debut!
Swing Dance Virginia
It's been a while since Central VA had a dance team - about 2007-8 when coach/choreography Robin (Grimsby) Powers directed a ladies team and a couples team - we're thrilled that coach/choreography Dawn Garrish has put together another Central VA team,
Swing Dance Virginia, and look forward to their competition debut at
Liberty Swing! Not going to Liberty? No worries, you can watch the event for free via the
livestream. Teams will be competing at 8:30 pm on Saturday night, June 30th, so make sure to tune in then. Good luck everyone!

Adela is often the Table/Group Dinner Organizer for events attended by "C-ville Westies" (and Central VA) dancers ~ if you're planning to go to any of these or other events, let her know! And reserve your hotel room ASAP as the event hotels usually sell out well in advance; you can always cancel it later. Don't wait until you decide to go to book your room; it will be too late!
