NORTH STATE BIA ISSUES YEAR-END SALES FIGURES

ROSEVILLE - The North State BIA released its 2017 year-end sales report, with the homebuilding industry recording  4,867 sales for the year, representing an improvement of 659 sales over 2016's 4,208. T he full Traffic and Sales Report is available here.

"Overall, 2017 brought to an end another year of steady growth for our industry," said Andy Davidson, President of Construction with Anton Development and the BIA's 2017 Chair.  "We're pleased to see the regional housing market continue to improve, but we certainly hope to build on the gains we made last year. Just a cursory glance at historic sales numbers makes it clear that we have a long way to go to meet the regional demand for housing, which most industry insiders peg at 10,000 to 12,000 units annually. The bottom line, though, is that we are on the right path."

Decade Sales Review
The chart below provides a historical perspective on total annual new homes sales in the region from 2007-2017.
More Communities Reporting
The number of communities actively reporting sales has also increased. This is yet another indication of a widening market, with more and more communities being built out and selling their product throughout the region.
Traffic on the Rise
For several years, the industry's traffic figures have increased. More and more people are, at the very least, visiting new home communities in the region - this is indicative of increased consumer confidence. Traffic figures represent the literal number of visitors to a new home community.
New Home Sales by Region
The North State BIA's sales report is compiled through a collaborative effort between association staff and homebuilders, who provide weekly/monthly reports based on escrow closings. The chart below breaks down regional sales for 2017.
Price Point Data
As part of its monthly sales analysis, the North State BIA also records the price points for new homes sold. The 2017 price points for new home sales can be seen in the chart below.
