Message from the Foundation President
As the weather warms up, generous supporters throughout our region and beyond are reaffirming their commitment to support Valley Children's and the patients and families we serve. Across the Valley, businesses and individuals are organizing events and campaigns to fundraise for Valley Children's.

Whether it is our national Children's Miracle Network Hospitals partners Rite Aid and Costco, our local Happy Hearts campaign run by Foundation Board member Skip Nugent (in memory of his daughter Heather) through Best Buy Markets IGA, or children fundraising to support others in need (like Justin who is featured in one of the stories below), we are honored by the never-ending passion of the community we serve. From all of us at Valley Children's, please accept our most heartfelt "thank you."

We are already preparing for the 2018 Harvest Ball. This premier event will be held on September 22, 2018 on the Valley Children's South Lawn. More information is below, but I would encourage you to consider reserving your spot soon.

We look forward to sharing more updates and information with you in the coming months as we continue to care for patients and families across the Central Valley.

Sincerely,

Robert V.

Taco Bell Campaign Raises $300,000
Valley Children's would like to give a special thank you to our friends at  Taco Bell for their incredible support during their 2017 in-store fundraising campaign. Over 100 local Taco Bells from across the Valley asked their customers to help them make a difference in the life of a child and raised over $206,000.

We were surprised to learn that the donation would be boosted by $94,000 for a total of $300,000 courtesy of Dave and Jeannie Olson's generous gift in support of this tremendously successful campaign. This generous donation will go to support Valley Children's Childhood Cancer Survivorship program and help pediatric cancer survivors thrive. Under the leadership of Dave and his team, Taco Bell has raised more than $3.1 million to date in support of Valley Children's.

Thank you again to all of our local Taco Bells, Mr. Paul McDougal and Mr. Mark Tanis for their tireless efforts to orchestrate this campaign, and to Mr. Dave Olson for his continued investment in the lives of our survivors of childhood cancer!

Welcome to the Class of 2021
Valley Children's Pediatric Residency Program, Affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, recently unveiled its second incoming class. In June, 13 residents will arrive to train and learn at Valley Children's. "We are very excited to welcome our second residency class to Valley Children's and to our family," said Dr. Jolie Limon, the Richard and John Berberian Chief of Pediatrics Endowed Chair and Executive Director of Medical Education. "As we continue to grow this program, we see the positive change and benefits that our community will reap from having new pediatricians graduate, starting with our inaugural class in 2020. These young physicians inspire and give us hope for the future, where every child has access to the highest quality of healthcare in the Valley." To read more about the class of 2021, click here.

Kids Giving Back
Over a year ago, Justin was treated at  Valley Children's  Hospital for a broken and crushed left femur. Today, Justin is 100% healed and thanks his medical team for helping him get better.

Through his very own cattle brand, JT, Justin decided he wanted to raise money for Valley Children's Hospital so he could help other sick and injured kids get better too.  Justin presented a donation of over $5,000 from his whole filet strip opportunity drawing. Dr. Gerardi, Justin's physician, was on hand to accept the donation. Thank you Justin for your generosity and to all those that participated to make this fundraiser such a success!

Miss America Organization Visits
The Miss America Organization is a Children's Miracle Network Hospitals partner who raises funds for Valley Children's every year. Recently, we have had many princesses visit our kids. Thank you to Miss Madera County Jacqueline Trafton, Miss Liberty Groves Emma Grimes,  Miss Fresno County Kindle Lynn Cowger and Miss Kings County Sophia Medina for sharing their time with our patients and staff.  Our patients certainly enjoyed the "royal" visits. Thank you, ladies, for spending time with us!

Virgil Green Visits
Los Angeles Chargers tight end and Tulare Union standout Virgil Green toured our hospital last month and visited with our kids. We are so grateful to Virgil for taking time out of his busy schedule to brighten the days of so many patients!
