El Nido's Healthy Families Fair
Focuses on Strengthening Families
El Nido Family Centers
held a Healthy Families Fair as a kick off to April's National Child Abuse Prevention Month on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at their Manchester Ave. location in Los Angeles.
Over 200 El Nido parents and children attended this special event which focused on preventing child abuse and neglect. Parents were provided information on effective parenting skills and children were engaged in fun activities to strengthen their development and social skills.
The activities for the day promoted the "protective factors"; skills that help parents deal more effectively with stressful events and eliminate risks in families. Activities included:
distribution of 1,800 free new children's books, Zumba, art activities, PBS Kids Mobile Lab, car seat safety, healthy breathing, healthy
home demos, well child checks, adult health checks, healthy water activities, and stress management resources.
