I honor the place in you where Spirit lives.

I honor the place in you where the entire Universe resides.

I honor the place in you which is

of Love, of Truth, of Light, of Peace.

When you are in that place in you,

and I am in that place in me,

we are One.

For many years now I have ended each and every class in a seated pose, bringing my hands together at my heart, while bowing and saying Namaste. The word is  comprised of the root words "namah" and "te". Namah translates into"bow" or "reverential salutation or adoration". Te means "to you". Namaste therefore t ranslates into "I bow to you".

Bringing our hands together at the heart, Anjali mudra, is used as a posture of composure, of returning to one's heart, whether you are greeting someone or saying goodbye, initiating or completing an action. As you bring your hands together at your center, you are literally connecting the right and left hemispheres of your brain. This is the yogic process of unification, the yoking of our active and receptive natures. When the greeting of Namaste is combined with this hand position it expresses something along the lines of the longer translation above. You might want to think of this greeting as a sacred hello. I personally find it beautiful, and can't seem to find a more appropriate way to end my classes.

Strength  for Life

Strength training for Women

Two new classes!

Tuesdays 7pm - 8pm

Level 2

Starts at 1/8 for 8 continuous weeks

Fridays 7:30am - 8:30am

 Level 1

Starts on 1/11 for 8 continuous weeks

Our first series of strength classes ended after 7 success-full weeks of classes. In January, Karen Schick, Personal Trainer and Yoga teacher, will take over from Beth and offer these two new classes.

Just like Beth, Karen offers personalized training in a small group setting.  The classes are designed to introduce and reinforce proper fitness technique for increased strength, balance, endurance, and coordination. With a strong emphasis on core conditioning, body weight, resistance bands, and light weights are incorporated into functional movements to help women get strong and stay strong.

The classes will be offered at two different levels:

Level 1 classes emphasize proper alignment and joint stabilization, with a strong focus on muscular endurance. This class is appropriate for beginners and those who prefer, or need, a slower paced class.

Level 2 classes incorporate more dynamic, functional movements with a strong focus on increased muscular strength. This class is appropriate for those with a basic understanding of proper form and those who prefer
a more fluid class.

If you have any questions please contact Karen at (917)576-8776 or write her at [email protected]

Please register directly with Karen to have a spot secured for t his upcoming series. The classes are kept small to ensure everyone's  safety. The series of 8 classes is $160.

I am very grateful to have her offer these classes, and adding wonderful energy into the studio.

Please note that my website has been hacked more then once this past fall. I am currently getting help with updating the software and reformatting the site. This will make it much easier for you to read it on your phone. Unfortunately, at this time I am not able to update my site, so for now, refer to this newsletter for cancelled classes. And as always, email me if you have any other questions. I hope to have these issues resolved in the near future.

I will offer 5  Thursday and 4 Friday classes this month, and 3  Saturday and Sunday classes.

Please note that there are no classes on Saturday the 5th or Sunday the 6th as I will take the weekend off with my family.

I look forward to seeing you in the New Year,

Lena

The Lotus Flower

The Lotus is one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. It has its roots in the mud, at the bottom of streams and ponds, but rises to bloom above the water without becoming wet or tainted by the mire below. It symbolically represents being fully grounded in earth, yet aspiring towards the divine. For thousands of years the Lotus has symbolized spiritual growth and self realization.
