St Stephen's Food for Thought
Good Shepherd Sunday
Every day, often beginning as early as late January and continuing through March, a new lamb, frequently twins, are born in the fields between Tomales and Dillon Beach. Driving in to work, your Communications Associate worries about the fact that these newborns must survive the creatures of darkness that prowl the landscape, and the cold nights. Rarely is there evidence of the "shepherd" of this flock. The only signs of his presence are newly shorn sheep, often in the dead of winter.
John 10.16 tells us that Jesus will, "lay down [his] my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold [the lost tribes of Israel]. I must bring them also, and they will listen my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd."
Our flock is in much better hands. You are invited to join us.
     See you in church!
