AFC Member Update

A big thanks again to all artists who attended and participated in the Artists for Conservation Festival in Vancouver in August. The event  represented a major milestone and advancement of AFC's message and profile on the international stage. The exhibit tour has begun in Tucson at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and we are set to launch a brand-new Virtual Exhibit. The Silent Skies Mural online sales have begun, and for those who didn't attend the AFC Fesival, there is a last minute opportunity to safari with Guy Combes to Kenya in support of conservation next summer. Details are below.

2019 Safari with Guy Combes
& Support Conservation

At the recent Artists for Conservation Festival, we presented Guy Combes with AFC's highest honor. In conjunction with his award details were revealed about a very limited capacity safari to Kenya with Guy Combes and Timothy Jackson (of Jackson African Safaris) during the summer of 2019. The special trip benefit both the Soysambu Boma Project at and Artists for Conservation. The trip filled quickly, but a few last minute spaces are still available. If you are interested in joining the trip, please contact Timothy Jackson asap (before October 20). See the following link for details.

  • Overland Comfort Safari: July 13th - 24th, 2019

  • The safari will include a visit to Soysambu itself, where you will have a chance to observe and participate in the conservation projects Guy is involved with and see where the money raised is spent first hand.

The safari will also include many other destinations in Kenya including; Samburu National Park, Lewa Conservancy, Nakuru National Park and the famed Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Guy will accompany the group as tour host, with the perspective of an artist who has been celebrating the wildlife of East Africa his whole life. You will also be able to visit locations that inspired Guy's father, Simon Combes, and observe the great legacy he left behind with his work as an artist and conservationist. These safaris provide a significant contribution to conservation.

The new virtual exhibit will feature a fresh look-and-feel and will feature several new features including improved navigation, integration with artist personal websites, improved search, mobile friendly display, and numerous other enhancements.  The new system will also allow the virtual exhibit launch time to more closely coincide with the live exhibit premiere in future years. Stand by for launch!
    AFC Book and Calendar
AFC books and calendars were mailed in mid-September. Most in North America will have received them by now. Outside North America (particularly overseas) delivery times range widely anywhere from 3 to 10 weeks.
    Silent Skies Mural
Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this project. We are preparing to tour the mural internationally. Mural 8x8 canvas prints can now be purchased online for $100 USD, with a major portion of proceeds supporting bird conservation and AFC's youth education program. 30 species remain to be claimed, so there is still a chance to be involved. We have much more to share and update you on around the project so stand by for a separate announcement with details!
