Presidential Search
Listening Session
|
As we launch our presidential search, it is important to hear your thoughts about the college’s strengths, the leadership agenda for the new president, and the skill sets, experiences and attributes that would best serve the college in its next chapter.
Members of the presidential search committee, together with our search firm, Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, invite you to attend one of two listening sessions in Peace Dining Room:

Luther College invites alumni, parents and friends of the college to join its annual Fall Community Day .
The day begins with the Community Day Picnic at Regents Center Circle Drive at 11:30 a.m. catered by U-2 BBQ. At 1 p.m. Luther football faces the Loras College Duhawks for a home game on Legacy Field at Carlson Stadium.
Other home athletic events of the day include Luther women's golf who play in the Luther Invitational at the Oneota Golf and Country Club with tee-off at noon and Luther volleyball who face the College of St. Benedict in the Regents Center at 2 p.m.

Todd Green
, associate professor of religion, will give a lecture for the first Religion Forum of the year on Thursday, September 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Building, Room 102. His lecture is titled
Presumed Guilty: Why We Shouldn't Ask Muslims to Condemn Terrorism,
and will be based on his new book by the same title. A book signing will follow the lecture.
Spend J-Term 2019 in Tanzania:
The Paideia 450 course "People and Parks: Pastoralism and Conservation in East Africa" has openings! This is a cultural immersion experience based in Maasai villages, small towns, and wildlife conservation areas in northern Tanzania. For more information contact

The GRADUATE/PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL DAY
will be held in the Dahl Centennial Union on Thursday, September 20 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Over 45 universities will be attending to visit with students about their various programs and application process.
The documentary "The 'S' Word"
looks into the lives of four suicide attempt survivors and one family dealing with the loss of a loved one who died by suicide. Sponsored by Luther College Active Minds and Luther's Counseling Service, Social Work Department, and Center for Intercultural Engagement and Student Success, the screening and discussion of the film is 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. Popcorn will be provided while supplies last.
With the beginning of the migration
of the monarch butterflies to Mexico, the Luther College entomology class will host a monarch butterfly migration banding event in Anderson Prairie on the Luther College campus from 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday, September 16.
Environmental Studies Coffee Break:
Tuesday, September 18, 9:40-10:50 in Valders 384. Come join fellow students and ENVS faculty members for coffee, tea, and casual conversation. A great chance to connect with students and faculty in the program.

Book Shop News --
Saturday, September 29 from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. the Luther College Book Shop will be hosting a Book Fair in Valders for the Luther Writers Festival. The Book Shop will also be open from 10:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for the festival. Stop in the Book Shop today to pick up copies of your favorite authors coming to the festival as they will be signing purchased books throughout the event.

for the 2018 Phonathon and who knows, you may even get Meryl Streep on the phone! Plus, if you call during the first week, we will treat you to pizza. Phonathon is one of Luther's largest outreach tools. Each fall, students volunteer to raise unrestricted dollars that help offset tuition, add to scholarships, and enhance programming all across campus. Over the years, Phonathon collectively has raised millions of dollars.

Phoebe Jan-McMahon
strives to create a place for viewers to escape the hustle of life with her work. Her exhibit, "The Adjacent" will be on display through October 27 in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts. Her exhibit explores spaces and objects in her apartment. Her works delve into the quietness of "the adjacent," a place to escape and heal from the brutality of everyday life.

Join Norse Against Sexual Assault
(NASA) for our first meeting of the year this Sunday, September 16 at 7 p.m. in the Dahl Centennial Union, Mott Room. A self-care activity will be included! NASA is a collaborative student organization that aims to raise awareness about sexual violence, educate members of the community, build a campus culture that is intolerant to all forms of sexual violence, and stand in solidarity to support survivors. ALL ARE WELCOME.
