Nicklaus Children's Announces Personalized Medicine Initiatives
Nicklaus Children's Hospital <based in Miami>, in collaboration with Rady Children's Institute for Genomic Medicine and Sanford Health, has launched two genomic medicine research protocols to more effectively diagnose and treat children with unexplained illnesses.

The three participating entities have a shared commitment to clinical innovation and research collaboration that enhance patient care, decrease healthcare costs and further the scientific understanding of rare genetic diseases in children. Nicklaus Children's Hospital and San Diego-based Rady Children's Institute are part of the Sanford Children's Genomic Medicine Consortium, which is committed to advancing children's medicine through integration of genomics into pediatric care. Sanford Health is an integrated health system headquartered in the Dakotas.

Boca Raton hospital gets $25M donation for new tower

Boca Raton Regional Hospital received a $25 million donation for its expansion program from Elaine J. Wold and her Bay Branch Foundation. This gift has provided another big boost for the $260 million capital campaign the non-profit hospital launched this year to fund new buildings and renovations on its campus. BRRH wants to build a seven-story, 278,000-square-foot patient tower on its campus. It also plans to expand and renovate its surgical suite, surgical intensive care unit and cardiovascular intensive care unit; add more private patient rooms; and build a parking garage.
Navigant, Baptist Health South Florida form joint venture 
Modern Healthcare via Crain's Miami

Navigant and <Miami-based> Baptist Health South Florida created a revenue-cycle management joint venture to help providers improve their billing, scheduling and administrative tasks, the companies announced recently. The new endeavor, which will initially serve Baptist Health South Florida, aims to leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence to boost revenue and cash flow while lowering the cost to collect, executives said. The joint venture, slated to launch this summer, will also provide new jobs, they said.
