New Camp Ministry Committee: 
SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS UPDATE

We have dreamed of achieving a level of sustainability in camp ministry that would allow all campers to attend camp at a very low cost. The PSWR and so many individuals have been tremendously generous in helping move us closer to achieving this dream. However, as expected, the operational costs of camp continue to rise each year. Likewise, the need for scholarship monies also increases as more folks attend camp.   Continue reading

The Youth Leadership Team is a regional Christian leadership training program for high school students who are passionate about camp ministry and building community. Each year YLT serves to provide support leadership to the various summer camp programs offered in the PSWR... read more

This anti-racism training will help youth and young adults get to know ourselves better in our full humanity and in our social lives,  as well as having conversations about race and racism that matter.

We have been so busy around here!  In the business of innovation you have to keep moving and keeping walking into the future, always anticipating shifts, movements, growth and opportunities!  With that being said, we just launched our first round of our Phase 2: Coaching and Training program for three churches in the PSWR. This is a five-month, customized program we have developed where we walk pastors and their teams through a process in which, what we call, a Minimum Viable Benefit is developed, tested and launched. A Call For Pastors and Church Leaders To Submit Yearbook Forms

CCNC-N Churches are reminded to submit their Year Book report online ASAP. The Year Book plays an important part for the church such as providing evidence to the IRS that the church is still functioning as a non-profit 501(c)(3) religious organization. Church administrators are encouraged to call the Regional Office for assistance in completing these reports.

The Board and Search Committee thank all those who have participated in the search process so far through input in surveys and in-person Listening Sessions, and providing nominations of candidates for the position of Regional Minister(s) of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Pacific Southwest Region (PSWR). The application period closed December 7, 2018 and the Search Committee is currently reviewing application materials and evaluating candidates. Rev. Stan Smith  completes his service with First Christian Church, Burbank at the end of February 2019.


Prayers are requested for  Rev. Delmy Amaya , pastor at  Rivera Christian Church as she works through some health issues.
 
Prayers are also requested for Rev. Debbie Rice, Pastor of United Church of the Valley (DOC/UCC) as she also faces health challenges.
 
Please pray for Rev. Stan Smith and his family on the passing of his brother Chuck Smith.  Chuck passed away on February 17th.

Rev. Lyn Walker passed away late February. Most recently he served as Pastor to the Covina United Church of Christ congregation. A service is being planned for Saturday March 30th, details TBA.

We received sad news that Rev. Kel Henderson's husband Mike passed away on March 6th . Kel serves as Associate Minister at Church of the Foothills DOC/UCC in Tustin. Please keep Kel and her son Anthony in your prayers. Cards may be sent to:  14122 Springdale St., Westminster, CA  96283.

Celebrations
 
Rev. Brandan Johnson  has been called to serve at First Christian Church, Burbank beginning March 2019.
 
Rev. Bob Bock , Sr. Pastor at First Christian Church, North Hollywood, celebrates 50 years of ministry at North Hollywood.  The celebration service was held Sunday March 3, 2019.
 
Beth McQuitty  will be ordained at First Christian Church, Burbank on April 27th at 2pm.
 
Rev. Rae Karim  has been called to serve at First Christian Church, Honolulu. Her ministry will begin on Easter Sunday.
