ANNOUNCEMENTS
Luther College celebrates the many cultures that come together in the name of education through the Diversity Center's annual Ethnic Arts Festival on Saturday, March 3. The festival includes a Country Fair from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Atrium. Hors d'oeuvres will available for purchase throughout the atrium at the event. There will also be performances representing different cultures at 7 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

Campus Programming and the Center for Ethics and Public Engagement presents  distinguishe lecturer Matthew Boger Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. Matthews's lecture will include an Academy Award-nominated short film Facing Fear that tells how former neo-Nazi, Tim Zaal, and the gay victim of a hate crime, Matthew Boger, met 25 years after the incident and worked together. Please note that the film does contain some mature language. He will also speak in chapel on Wednesday, March 7

Daryl Davis, black musician, author, actor and activist, has spent the past 20 years meeting and befriending hundreds of Ku Klux Klan members who have since broken ties with the Klan. With his story promoting hope, friendship and conversation, Davis will give a Distinguished Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life.

Dr. Heather Hackman will present the lecture, The Urgency of Now and the Role of White People in Racial Justice Work at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, in Valders 206. Hackman's lecture, intended to begin the dialogue about how white people can be agents of change in social justice work.     
 
SPRING CAREER FAIR ! Thursday, March 1, Union Lounge, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Over 45 organizations will be attending to visit with students (all years/all majors) about various internships, full-time and part-time opportunities! Plan to attend! Sponsored by the Career Center.

Decorah's Community Job Fair - Thursday, March 1.  Dahl Centennial Union, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Employers from around Northeast Iowa will be on campus to visit with area residents about their job opportunities. Open to the public. This Fair follows Luther's Spring Career Fair.

Service Drive only - The drive between Facilities Services and Korsrud Heating Plant buildings is for use by Facilities and Security Staff only. All others, please refrain from using the drive as a shortcut and obey the signs that are in place. This is for the safety of employees as they work between the two buildings.

College Ministries is accepting work study applications for the 2018-2019 academic year. Stop by the College Ministries office or email [email protected] to get an application form and learn about work study positions. 
 
Gospel Choir
will rehearse Friday, March 2, 7-9 p.m. in Jensen Choir room to prepare for Gospel Sunday on March 4. No auditions, come and make a joyful noise with Gospel Choir.

Beta Theta Omega (BTQ) presents a Black Panther Themed Talent Show! The event aims to raise money for a good cause. This year's proceeds will go to the Luther College Diversity Center Book Fund and Machecheta pre-school, Malawi. The show will take place @7 p.m. on March 16 in Marty's. Tickets will be sold from March 10-16 for $3 and $5 at the door. For more information email [email protected] .

footnotes? Zotero (free application) helps you collect, manage, and cite your sources with a click of a button. Bring your laptop and learn how to download Zotero and set it up to manage your resources (available for PCs and MACs). Wednesday, February 28, in Preus Library, Hovde Room. Time: 7-8 p.m.
The Luther College Balalaika Ensemble will give a 2 p.m. concert Sunday, March 4, in the Center for the Arts Atrium. The family-friendly concert features Ami Hall as special guest vocalist. A 1996 Luther graduate, Hall is a performing artist and educator from Littleton, Colorado.

Winter safety reminder
-- Even though the bulk of the winter season is over, there are still safety concerns with changing wintry weather. Please take care when driving and using walkways as some spots on roads and sidewalks may be slippery. The fluctuating temperatures make keeping up with slippery areas challenging. If you notice a particularly slippery area, please let Facilities Services, (563) 387-1146, or Campus Safety and Security, (563) 387-1111, know as soon as possible so they can manage those areas.

There will NOT be a shopping shuttle March 3 or March 4.

Two concerts featuring nearly 600 high school student musicians, two Luther College ensembles and one Luther faculty trio, will be held March 4-5 in the Luther's Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

Missing artwork -- Between February 17 and 18 a painting by Luther art major Hannah Tulgren '18, was taken from the Center for the Arts Painting Studio. This artwork is necessary for her Senior Exhibition. Here's an image of the painting. Please contact Hannah with information about the work. 
 
RERUNS
Campus Programming and the Center for Ethics and Public Engagement are hosting the documentary screening "Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America" at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. Novian Whitsitt, Luther professor of Africana studies and English, will lead a discussion after the screening.
Accidental Courtesy is a 2016 documentary that follows Daryl Davis, a black musician, as he meets and befriends members of the Ku Klux Klan.  
The Diversity Center will have a Decorah Walmart shopping shuttle 1:00-4:00 p.m. on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24.  THIS IS A CHANGE! This is open to all students and there is no charge, but reservations are requested, please register  here. Students should meet in front of the Union. All times subject to change or times cancelled due to low numbers or other unexpected circumstances or bad weather. The next shopping shuttle is not until Saturday, March 17!
 
Philosophy Club Presents: Second Annual Daniel H. Andreotti Memorial Debate -"Is a Government's Primary Moral Obligation to Its Own Citizens or the People of the World?" Students Nazai Dos Santos '19, Rebecka Green '19, Ismail Hamid '19, and Minh Anh Nguyen '20 formally debate this ethical question.  
Moderated by Max Eness '20 and sponsored by the CEPE and Philosophy Department. Wednesday, February 28, 7:00 p.m., Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall. Reception to follow.

French Film Series : This semester, we highlight interactions among people of different classes and ethnic groups. Les Femmes du 6e Etage    (translated as Service Entrance ) deals with immigration in the 1960s. It is a comedy that contrasts the world of the French bourgeoisie and that of their Spanish domestic servants. The film is in French and Spanish with English subtitles. All are welcome to attend. Sunday, February 25, 8:00 p.m. Hovde Lounge, Preus Library.

Formed on the fundamentals of memory and diversity, Duo MemDi will take the stage at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 25, in Jenson-Noble Hall of Music, Noble Recital Hall. This Faculty Artist Series is performed by Luther College Assistant Professor of Music Igor Kalnin, violin, and Rochelle Sennet, pianist and associate professor of piano at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Luther is piloting the campus-wide Lynda.com product called LyndaCampus. Visit  lynda.luther.edu and sign in with your Norse Key username and password. Calling All Sophomores! Interested in becoming more involved as a member of the student body? Student Senate is looking for a sophomore class representative to serve for this spring. Student Senate  is working on putting together a student mission statement. We would like to extend a hand to any student who would like to be a part of this process. Meetings are held at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. 2018 AEI Summer Honors Program is for top undergraduate students. Participate in intensive, fully-funded public policy seminars in Washington, DC.  Four courses offered through the Values & Capitalism initiative exploring topics of international development, the morality of capitalism, American foreign policy, and First Amendment constitutional law-from a distinctly Christian perspective. Application deadlineMonday, March 5.
