Presented with Chamber of Commerce Award
At a luncheon held Dec. 20, 2017, the Winston-Salem
Chamber of Commerce presented its monthly Salute to Business Award to Smith
Phillips Building Supply. This award is given in honor of the recipient's support of the
Chamber and the community.
Smith Phillips has maintained a long tradition of giving back to the community that supports the business. Through the years, the company and its management team have actively supported local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Brenner Children's Hospital, the SECU Family House and local schools and
universities. It has also been an active member of the Chamber of Commerce for many years.

Huttig Building Products Awarded 2017 Construction Marketer of the Year
Huttig Building Products, Inc., was recognized by the Construction Marketing Association (CMA) STAR™ Awards as the 2017 Midwest Construction Marketer of the Year for marketing excellence in the construction industry.
The CMA STAR awards recognize excellence in categories including advertising, branding, website design, social media, brochures, catalogs, new product launches, packaging, photography, promotions, publicity, merchandising, trade shows, videos, employee communications and integrated marketing campaigns, along with the Midwest Construction Marketer of the Year, which was awarded to Huttig.

Housing Inventory At
All-Time Low
The 1.48m existing homes available for sale on Dec. 31 was 10.3% below the year prior
An uptick in existing-home sales in the final three months of 2017 pulled down housing inventory to an all-time low and kept home-price growth at its recent robust pace, according to the
latest quarterly report
by the National Association of Realtors, issued today.
The national median existing single-family home price in the fourth quarter was $247,800, which is up 5.3% from the fourth quarter of 2016 ($235,400). The median price during last year's third quarter climbed 5.6% from the third quarter of 2016.
