FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 18, 2018
CRUISE TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS FOR HOT CARS, COOL MUSIC AND GREAT FAMILY FUN

Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. - With multiple motor-focused events scheduled in the coming months, the historic Bagnell Dam Strip in Lake Ozark is the place to be for classic car enthusiasts, motor-heads and more.

Attendees can expect a wide array of impressive vehicles at the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals and the Hot Summer Nights events this summer.
One of the largest car shows of its kind in mid-America, the   Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals, celebrates its 30th anniversary at the Lake of the Ozarks the weekend of May 4-6.

This unique car show, which takes its name from the serpentine shape of the Lake of the Ozarks, is open to a variety of makes and models and brings in over 10,000 spectators from across the Midwest to check out all the cool cars, trucks and motorcycles on display along "the Strip" throughout the weekend.

The historic Bagnell Dam Strip will host 1,000 show cars and 10,000 spectators during the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals, May 4-6.
For both safety and convenience, a portion of Bagnell Dam Strip will be closed off to regular motor traffic during show hours on Saturday so that the 1,000 vehicles on display can be easily accessed and viewed by attendees and fellow show car owners. Show car categories include makes ranging from the early 1900s to present day for "rat rods," "street rods," "street machines," muscle cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Arguably, the pristine show vehicles are the main draw, but other events and activities keep attendees entertained throughout the weekend.  There are make-and-take model building activities for children, a Magic Dragon poker run for adults, golden oldies broadcast live on location by deejays from "Cool" 102.7 FM, a 50/50 raffle and a drawing for a 2018 Ford Mustang.

The legendary Big Foot monster truck will be at the 30th Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals. Attendees can meet the driver and watch a Big Foot car-crushing demo in person.
New for 2018, the legendary Big Foot monster truck will put on a car-crushing demonstration on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Firestone Alley, next to Two-Bit Town along the Strip. The demo, like all Magic Dragon events, is open to the public and free to attend.

Hours for the Magic Dragon Street Meet are 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday.  Winners of the poker run, 50/50 raffle, and drawing for the 2018 Ford Mustang will be announced from the main stage located at Lake Ozark Live, 1508 Bagnell Dam Boulevard, at 5 p.m. on Saturday.  Judging of the show vehicles will take place Sunday morning from 9-11 a.m. Winners in 30 different competitive classes and the overall grand champion will be announced at 1 p.m. at the main stage.

The vintage vehicles feel right at home on the Bagnell Dam Strip during the Hot Summer Nights events.
Magic Dragon kicks off the summer car craze at the Lake of the Ozarks, but the Hot Summer Nights cruise-in events keep the party going through early September. N
amed the best annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks by Lake Lifestyles magazine, Hot Summer Nights features  more cool cars, family fun and great music.

The free five-part cruise-in takes place from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on the second Friday of every month, rain or shine, with the first Hot Summer Nights event of 2018 taking place on Friday, May 11.

Hot Summer Nights has many fans, some more famous than others.
Hot Summer Nights has been attracting thousands of visitors every year at each of the five Friday night events, making it the largest cruise-in in Missouri.  The overall theme for this year's Hot Summer Nights series is "Cruisin' the Midwest Coast," but each monthly event has its own individual theme as well. "Here Comes Summer!" is the theme for the opening event on May 11. On June 8, the legendary Route 66 gets all the attention with "The Mother Road, Rt. 66 - Still Kickin'." The Missouri Route 66 Association will set up a Route 66 "village" where visitors can get a real sense of the magic and history of this storied thoroughfare. July 13 is all about "Rods & Rock 'N' Roll" and August 10 focuses on "Keep on Cruisin'." The September 7 event is called "Salute to Our Heroes... Military, Police, Firefighters and EMTs."

The historic Bagnell Dam Strip is home to many restaurants, stores, arcades and more, making it an ideal location to host these events that take visitors back in time to the halcyon days of American automobiles.
