ASPA Student and Professional Dinner

The Southern California Chapter of ASPA is pleased to announce the continuation of our informal dinners by presenting an intimate evening with two rising stars, Ms. Jessica Lall and Ms. Yasmine Beers who will share their personal stories and perspective on the challenges facing local governments.

Jessica Lall serves as the President and CEO of the Central CIty Association (CCA), Los Angeles' premiere advocacy organization. The CCA represents more than 400 business, trade associations and nonprofit organizations that employ more than 350,000 people in LA County.  The CCA has long been a leader in the incredible economic rejuvenation of downtown Los Angeles.  Amidst this historic prosperity, LA struggles with the largest homeless population in the nation and is one of the least affordable housing markets for middle class families.  Jessica sits at the unique juncture between the private sector and government dealing with these policy challenges.  Jessica has a BA degree in Political Science and Social Sciences from USC and was student body president and is a graduate of the CORO Fellowship in Public Affairs.

Yasmine Beers is the first woman to be the City Manager of Glendale, the third largest City in LA County. She started as an intern in the library and worked her way up the ladder through various progressively responsible positions to become Assistant City Manager in 2010 and City Manager in 2017. Yasmine played a critical role in navigating the City through the Great Recession and the Statewide elimination of Redevelopment.  Today, Glendale's booming, highlighted by Rick Caruso's very successful Americana retail, dining and entertainment project and a surge in smart, higher density residential development.  Yasmine has a BA degree in Political Science from Cal State Northridge and a Master's degeree in Organizational Leadership from Woodbury University.

Seating is very limited and expected to sell out quickly--early registsration is encouraged.

This event was made possible by generous support from Bud and Denise Ovrom.
