At this time of year most of us are enjoying the longer days and a bit of warmer weather. We can't wait to get out in the yard and do something - anything!
Here are a couple of tips:
1 - Do not walk in and around your yard on days when the soil is thawing or soft. This will compact your soil. Flowers, vegetables, even your lawn will not grow well with compacted soil.
2 - Remove rose cones and collars and prun
e rose bushes to where the stem is green.
3 - Cut back ornamental grasses.
4 - Cut back and clean up perennials before the new growth begins.
5 - Survey your yard as you clean up debris from winter. Collect broken branches and notice low spots in your lawn that could use filling and grass seed.
6 -
Apply Dormant Oil to your fruit trees as soon as our daytime temperatures are over 40 degrees. You don't want to miss doing this! Dormant Oil is a horticultural oil used to smother disease and fungus spores as well as critters who may have over wintered.
7 - If you have fruit trees; apples, pears, plums, cherries and peaches, you should prune them now.
8 - Come to Countryside on Saturday, March 10 for Free Seminars!

fascinating
that the little seeds will either grow into something I like to look at or something I want to eat!" If you too would like to grow your plants from seed and are not sure how or need a refresher, then join us on Saturday, March 10th at 11:30.
