SCHS Announces the Retirement of its Executive Director-Kathleen Klehr

The Scott County Historical Society (SCHS) announces the retirement of its Executive Director, Kathleen Klehr.

Ms. Klehr began at SCHS in 2004, with a vision to broaden the Society's reach throughout the county and strengthen the Stans Foundation relationship. She implemented new programs including teas in the Stans House, hands-on youth activities, outreach presentations, and a "resume building" internship program for college-age students. Working directly with the Stans Foundation, she helped design new exhibit galleries.

Kathleen led a six-year project to collect WWII veteran and home-front stories, leading to the publication of the book "Never Forgotten: Stories by Scott County World War II Veterans", now in its second printing. Those stories were also the basis for the (2010) exhibit "Heroes Among Us: Scott County's World War II Veterans", which won a state award and was a finalist for a national award. Every local exhibit displayed by SCHS was researched, created, and installed in-house by Society staff (except for the current Play Ball exhibit). Over the years she helped develop 117 exhibits, 54 of which were displayed onsite (the rest were travelling or displayed at sites throughout the county).

Please join SCHS as they send their Executive Director, Kathy Klehr, off in style with food, drinks, a trivia competition, and more at their annual meeting on  Thursday, March 21, 2019 beginning at 6 pm.
