Are You Partnering with Schools of SchoolsofPharmacy Pharmacy?

The Dispensary of Hope has established great partnerships with all three of the local schools of pharmacy in Nashville. Through these partnerships, our team is assigned one pharmacy intern a month to join our team to learn how Dispensary of Hope operates. In turn, our team benefits from our pharmacy interns' support through their efforts in bringing clinical knowledge to the organization. Joining our team this month is Cailin Harris.

Cailin Harris, a P4 student, comes from Belmont University and has hopes to work in the ambulatory care setting, bridging the care gap between rural patients and their health conditions. She has been a tremendous asset to our team so far. Currently, Cailin is assisting in the development of a presentation to the SCSHP (South Carolina Society of Health-System Pharmacists) pharmacy hospital leaders group, creating an overview presentation on anti-infectives for the nonclinical employees at the Dispensary of Hope, and writing a network newsletter article for GI/IBS Awareness Month that will go out in a couple of weeks.

Hillary Blackburn, PharmD, our Director of Pharmaceutical Services, does an amazing job integrating the students with the Dispensary of Hope while also giving them a unique perspective in pharmacy practice. Our pharmacy interns actively participate in our day-to-day activities by researching drug information questions, sitting in on calls and meetings, helping to pick and ship orders, and preparing presentations. The Dispensary of Hope is grateful for the support from Schools of Pharmacy in furthering our mission.

The Dispensary of Hope visits Mizzou Pharmacy University Hospital!MOSiteVisit

Earlier this month, Dispensary of Hope's Logan White, Network Operations Manager, and Barin Tayip, Account Manager, had the opportunity to traveled to Columbia, Missouri to visit with Mizzou Pharmacy University Hospital.

Since joining in November 2017, Mizzou Pharmacy continues to grow. Tom Greenlee, PharmD., Manager of Retail Pharmacy, and Meredith Lennek-Simons, PharmD., Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor, gave our team a chance to see their pharmacy in action. With outpatient and employee pharmacy conducted in one central location, the team is able to serve multiple patients. The pharmacy has strong communication within the hospital system about the program. Working with the Patient Medication Liaison and social workers throughout the hospital, they are able to quickly and efficiently screen and refer patients to the pharmacy.

Partnering with the MedZou Community Health Clinic, the pharmacy is able to provide for their patients' medication needs. With hopes of continuing to expand their services, we look forward to more growth from Mizzou Pharmacy!
