Dear Mount Pleasant residents and business owners,
 
Happy Holidays to all of our residents and businesses in the Town of Mount Pleasant. It has been another successful year in our community and we are grateful for all your support in continuing to make Mount Pleasant the best place to live and work. We are kicking off 2019 with a public input meeting on our Comprehensive Plan - the Town's 10-year guiding document. If you haven't been involved already, I encourage you to come out on January 23rd and provide your input on this important plan.
 
There are several other upcoming meetings and events scheduled for the next month, so I invite you to sign up to our Notify Me module and stay updated on the latest Town news, projects, and events. Street Sign Replacement Program
To meet Federal Highway Administration requirements, the Mount Pleasant Transportation and Public Services departments have partnered in a joint street sign replacement program. The capital improvement project will replace about 7,500 signs over the next five years. The Street Sign Replacement Program will include all street signs within the Town, with the exclusion of private roads and sideways. Existing signs will be removed if they are considered redundant or do not meet standards. Additional signs may be added where deemed applicable.

Comprehensive Plan Town Hall Meeting

Comprehensive Plan Town Hall Meeting
January 23, 2019
5 - 7 PM
Mount Pleasant Town Hall
This public input opportunity on the Comprehensive Plan will be held as part of the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting. The Planning Commission will hear input from the public on the specifics of the draft 2018 Comprehensive Plan endorsed by the Plan Forum in December 2018. The draft plan is available online for public review in advance HERE.

January 11: Sock Hop (Grades 4-5) | 5:30-8 PM | Park West Rec Complex Gym | $6/person
Grades 4-5 are invited to dance the night away at this popular MPRD event. MPRD staff will chaperone and a DJ will provide the music. Concessions will be available. Advance registration only (available for all seven sock hops). No registration taken at the sock hop. Register online now!

Thomasena Stokes- Marshall Senior Center Closed Jan. 15 - 18, 2019
The Senior Center will be closed Tuesday, January 15 - Friday, January 18th while new flooring and furniture is installed.

Town Administrator's Mobile Office Hours
 

The next Mobile Office Hours event will be on  January 22, 2019  from 10 -11 am at the Park West Program Building (1251 Park West Blvd.). Each month, the Town Administrator holds open office hours at various locations around the community. All citizens are invited to stop by and discuss items of interest to them.  No appointment necessary. For more information about this program, visit the Mobile Office Hours webpage or call (843) 884 - 8517.

Memorial Waterfront Park Playground CLOSED until further notice
The playground at Memorial Waterfront Park will continue to be closed until further notice. The paint is not curing correctly due to the cold and wet weather conditions. The contractors have a plan on how to move forward and we will notify residents through social media when the project is complete and the playground is open.
Duffy Sports Field Complex Project
Electrical work will restart on December 27th and conclude in January. Drainage work will restart on January 7th and conclude before February.
Snee Farm Drainage improvement Project
On hold until the beginning of January

The Request for Applications (RFA) for Charleston County's and the City of North Charleston's PY2019 Urban Entitlement funding is now available. Click HERE for more info.

Community Investment Applications
The Town of Mount Pleasant has released its new Community Investment application for FY 2020 (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020.) Applications are due February 1, 2019. Click HERE for more info.
