ONE Worship
December 16, 10:30AM

We hope you will join us for ONE Worship as the Chancel Choir presents "The Incarnation" by K. Lee Scott with brass and organ. This will be a joyful celebration of music as “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us!" is proclaimed.
Stockings for the Ministry Center

You are invited to pick up a stocking from the table outside of the Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall and fill it with socks and underwear (all sizes needed, children - adult) for the Ministry Center. After it has been filled, place it under the Christmas tree in the Sanctuary. If you forget to get a stocking, no worries. Your donation can still be placed under the tree. These simple Christmas gifts will be a huge help and blessing for those who visit the Ministry Center.
Looking for some Christmas cheer? Take a stroll down the office hallway! And while you're there vote for your favorite(s). Votes will be cast in the form of a monetary donation. The money raised from our door competition will be used for the OBC Day School Scholarship Fund. This fund allows students to be part of this great program even if a tragic situation prevents their parents from being able to pay all of the tuition. We are excited about showcasing our creativity, but we are even more excited about helping children continue to receive an education that is rooted in the love of Christ.

Throughout the month there will be envelopes on each door so you can cast your vote with cash or check (checks should be made out to OBC). Doors will be decorated all month. You may vote as many time as you would like!

**To vote/donate electronically, click on "vote for my favorite." Enter the amount you would like to donate and then click on the drop down box and select the name of the person whose door is your favorite.**

Your Donation Makes a Difference

Dear Church Family,
As you consider ways to give during this holiday season, remember that any tithes or offerings to the church must be received by December 31st. Our 2018 budget year is drawing to an end and your gifts help us succeed in the good work God is doing in this place. Contributing to God’s work at Oakland is very simple and we have multiple options for you to choose from:
Text Giving : Text “OBC” to 73256. You will receive an immediate reply. Click the link in the reply to set up text giving. Text giving for 2018 must be completed by 11:59PM, EST, December 31, 2018.
Offering Plate : Place your offering envelope in the offering plate during either worship service. Offering envelopes can be mailed to your home or found in the pew racks in the sanctuary, as well as on the welcome table in the gym. The last services of the year will be Sunday, December 30. Contributions received on that date will count toward 2018.
Online Giving : Click on the "Donate to OBC" button below to donate via credit card. When using the link below no fees are incurred. You may make a one time donation or set up a recurring donation.
US Mail: Mail a check to the church address—1067 Oakland Ave, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Mailed contributions must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2018.
Online Bill Pay through your Bank: Set up a recurring check payment to the church for the weekly or monthly amount of your gift. This type of contribution will begin in 2019, and cannot be counted toward 2018.
Bank Draft: Fill out a planning card (located in the church office) and attach a voided check. Choose to have your account drafted on the 1st or 15th of each month. Drafting your bank account is one of the most inexpensive ways to give (no fees), is efficient in regards to book keeping, and provides consistent income for the entire year which helps us in planning programs, ministries, and missions. This type of contribution will begin in 2019, and cannot be counted toward 2018.

In addition to the above, on December 22, 2017, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 was signed into law. Most of the changes introduced by the bill went into effect on January 1, 2018. If you are interested in maximizing tax deductions in 2018, please contact your accountant and/or tax advisor to discuss the concept of bundling or bunching your charitable gifts. Should you choose to utilize this new tax option, OBC will make proper arrangements for your gift.

Your gifts are essential to the positive ministries of Oakland Baptist Church. Thank you for the generosity you have shown in 2018; and, thank you in advance for your faithful giving in 2019—it’s going to a great year for our church!

Merry Christmas!
Pastor Jeff

Shopping for a cause:
Have you seen the new Copper Dwelling + Design Mercantile Shop? It just opened near the Cotton Factory and our friends at Knowledge Perk. In fact, the grand opening was Black Friday! It’s an ADORABLE little spot with unique gifts and local finds.

The owners are a local husband-wife duo who take on real estate and interior design when they’re not running the shop. And they have agreed to let ODS be the FIRST group to hold a Spirit Night at the new spot!

Stop by the Mercantile Shop at 130-B W. White Street on December 13th from 5:30-8:30 PM to find some treasures and Christmas gifts in support of the school!

Coffee for a cause:
You can now purchase a specially-marked bag or box of K-cups from Knowledge Perk Coffee in support of the ODS Scholarship + Community Outreach Fund!

This business has already wowed us with their generosity, and we are honored to link arms with them in this effort! So help us spread the word, and let us know how you like the ODS blend!

You can purchase the ODS blend in the store or by using the link below.
Donation Box Is Open!

The Ministry Center drop box will re-open Thursday, December 13 at Noon. We prefer that only fall/winter clothing be brought in now; please hold spring/summer until after the first of the year. We need shoes, toys, housewares very desperately. We also need boys clothing, sizes 5–18 and jackets of all sizes.
Family Promise

Our next Family Promise Week will be December 30 through January 5. We still NEED a male and female overnight host on December 31 and January 1. You may host as a single (we have 2 bedrooms for hosts), couple, or family. Consider ringing in the new year by spending the night with our Family Promise guests. If you have any questions or are able to be an overnight host please contact Karen Neal (nealkaren@bellsouth.net).
