Sunday Supper
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Celebrate St. Patrick with your parish family
Don't miss out on this month's Sunday Supper, St. Patrick's Day, March 17!! It's going to be a fantastic family evening.

We'll be learning about St. Patrick , the patron saint of Ireland; a Christian missionary given credit with converting Ireland to Christianity in the AD 400's.  What's up with those snakes? There will be games, story telling, scripture, and much more. We'll finish with a yummy baked potato bar.

Cooks, take the night off, and let us do the heavy lifting. Let the chefs know you're coming... RSVP HERE .

Youth Mission Trip Fundraiser
Rustle Up Some Fun!
You are invited to an evening of fun, laughter, and delicious food for a good cause! Please join us in the Christ Church courtyard from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6th. Pardner - $50/Jr. Pardners - $20

This summer, the youth of our diocese will be traveling to the diocese of Western Mexico. They have been invited by Bishop Gomez Osnaya to come as his guest! They will have the opportunity to assist the Pame people in the mountains outside of San Luis and to run a children's program in Guadalajara. We are all very excited for this incredible opportunity!

The total expense of this trip is $600 per person. This barbecue, hosted by Christ Church, will help ensure that ALL of the youth eligible to be part of the delegation are able to, regardless of financial means.

The evening's activities include a menu of Chef Tim's favorite barbecue selections from both north and south of the border, photo booths, dancing, and a silent auction.  Won't you be part of the fun?

Lent
Sunday Forums in Lent
Mary, Our Lenten Companion
Sundays - 9:00 a.m. Hinde Hall
The season of Lent invites those who choose an intentional journey, a journey which brings us closer to the heart of God. What better companion than Mary of Nazareth who is recognized as Theotokos, the God-bearer. Mary lived life as it came to her with no more surety than we have but who, regardless, went on in faith. Our Lenten forums will reflect upon Mary as people have seen her and named her over the ages and who accompanies us along the way in our own day.

Walk the Labyrinth
Wednesdays 4:00-8:00 p.m.
A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The Labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. Bring a friend to join you in this holy practice.

Stations of the Cross
Led by the Daughters of the King
Stations of the Cross during Lent
The Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that offers witness to Jesus' Passion and Death. At each station we use our senses and our imagination to reflect prayerfully upon Jesus' suffering, Death, and Resurrection, and to simply experience the visual images to reflect on Christ's love for us. Join us Wednesday evenings in Lent at 6:15 p.m. in the church

Maundy Thursday Passover Meal
Thursday, April 18 - 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Instead of our traditional Maundy Thursday service and foot washing, this year we will explore, table by table, the scripture and the traditions that are part of a traditional Passover meal. The inter-generational service and meal answers the question, why is this night different from all other nights. Your RSVP as a guest and/or table host , enables us to prepare appropriately for this special evening in Holy Week.

Parish News
A Message from Bishop Katharine
Practicing Sabbath Moments
Bishop Katharine Jefferts-Schori
We live in anxious times. That is probably obvious to all of us, yet it can help enormously to name that reality. We're anxious about immigration issues, even though the number of people entering from Mexico is radically lower than just a few years ago. The financial markets are anxious. We're anxious about the trajectory of relations with Russia and North Korea and now Venezuela. Britain and Europe are anxious about Brexit and the EU - and whatever happens will have consequences for the United States. This diocese is anxious about episcopal transitions.  Read the full message.

Yoga at Christ Church
Relax at the end of the day
Christ Church will feature two yoga practices in March. Weekly on Tuesday evenings, Rebecca Nagorksi leads a faithful group. In addition, Nereyda Varias will be back for a limited time with a  restorative yoga class,  Thursday, March 28.   Both classes meet in Hinde Hall at 5:00 p.m. - a $5.00 donation is requested.

Lenten Book Drive
Episcopal Community Services

Support the Lenten Book Drive for Head Start
This year's Lenten Drive will benefit children in the Episcopal Community Service's Head Start program. Reading is key to academic success and the earlier children are exposed to books and reading, the better they do in school and in life! There are 2,000 children in ECS's Head Start program who need our help! Read more...

There are a number of ways to support this outreach project:
  • Donate towards our $5,000 goal online here;
  • Go to the church's Amazon Idea list and you may select and purchase a recommended book (or two) and have it sent directly to the parish office;
  • Look for the table in the courtyard every Sunday in Lent for more information. You may drop off your book donations, or to give toward our $5000 goal - cash, check or credit card are accepted.

Together we can make a difference in the lives of 2000 of our youngest brothers and sisters right here in San Diego County!

Food Collection - St. Mark's
Neighborhood Food Pantry
March-Canned Protein
St. Mark's has designated a specific food item for collection each month this year. March is canned protein (tuna, salmon, chicken). This could include single serving containers.

You may access the entire year's list on St. Mark's Outreach page. Of course, basic non-perishable items are always needed such as: soup/stews, cereal and oatmeal, granola bars, peanut butter, pasta and sauce, rice, canned protein, canned vegetables and fruit, and single serve items for their unhoused visitors. Bring your contributions on Sundays or to the parish office Monday-Thursday.
