New Report on Outcomes of Academic Demographic Data of MSSC Certificants March3

MSSC, the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) partnered on a data sharing initiative to look at aggregate outcomes of academic demographic data. The NSC analyzed almost 63,000 MSSC certificants' outcome data over the eight-year period of 2011-2019. Here are examples of the findings:
  • 14% of MSSC Certificants have an AA degree or higher
  • 26K Certificants (42%) earned at least 3 MSSC Credentials
  • 29% of Certificants are enrolled in post-secondary education

Get to know MSSC Center, Community College of Vermont! March5

MSSC Center, Community College of Vermont (CCV), has been part of our community since 2015. From the MSSC Headquarters we feel that it is important to share our centers experience coming directly from staff at the facilities we partner with across the nation. This month we are hearing from the Business & Community Outreach Manager, Michael Keogh, who oversees the CPT program at CCV. 

Click this link to read more about how through strategic partnerships with manufacturers across Vermont, CCV has been able to create consistent streams of qualified candidates across all pockets of the state, along with substantial wage increases of 15% for students who have completed the CPT certification compared to non-completers.

Alabama Community College System Certifies National Guardsmen in CPT & CPT+ March6

A very exciting partnership between the Alabama Community College System (ACCS), National Guard, Trenholm State Community College, and Hyundai launched last month to certify Guardsmen in our Certified Production Technician (CPT) and the CPT+ Certification programs. CPT Instructor, Rob Nicholson, ACCS has been the lead instructor in this successful partnership taking place at the Hyundai Training Center in Montgomery, Alabama. 

So far, all 8 National Guard students, and 1 Hyundai representative enrolled in the class have earned the Full CPT Certification and 7 out of the class will be earning their CPT+ Certification this month. Congratulations to these Guardsmen pictured below, ACCS, and their partners for preparing students for skills increasingly needed in the technology-intensive jobs of the 21st century. Also, we thank these National Guard students for their service!

Board Co-Chair, Ivanka Trump, stated that the Board will focus on the following deliverables over the next 12-18 months: (1) Develop a campaign to promote multiple pathways to good-paying jobs; (2) Improve the availability and transparency of data and better matchworkers to jobs; (3) Modernize candidate recruitment and training practices to expand the pool of job applicants; 4) Encourage employer-led training and investments. President Trump underlined the importance of helping formerly incarcerated secure productive employment.

New NCES Report Highlights Key Findings on Future Trends in Public Schools March11
 
The National Center for Education Statistics released a new annual report, entitled Projections of Education Statistics to 2027. This report provides national-level data on enrollment, teachers, high school graduates, and expenditures at the elementary and secondary level. The report also includes enrollment and degrees at the post-secondary level for the past 15 years and projections to the year 2027.

NAM Manufacturing Outlook Survey March13

The latest Manufacturers' Outlook Survey from the National Association of Manufacturers, shows that manufacturers' optimism for 2018 reached the highest level on record in the 20-year history of the survey. 92.4% of manufacturers surveyed reported a positive outlook, surpassing the 2017 average of 91.8%.
