Thought Leadership: Vote
Next year is the 100
th
Anniversary of the 19
th
Amendment to the Constitution, which gave women the right to vote. Jim Crow laws in the South effectively denied voting rights to African American women (and men) until the passage of the Voting Rights Acts of 1965. However, since then, new forms of voter suppression have emerged in many states – methods which make it difficult if not impossible for some to exercise their right to vote. Luckily, in Maine we’ve been able to fight against such efforts.
This year, more women are on the ballots than ever before and this is our opportunity to move the needle and put more women in positions of power in Augusta and Washington, D.C. So,
VOTE
November 6th; every vote matters.
