Student presents paper at 55th Annual Conference in Houston 

Martina Urrutia Achleitner a senior finance major and Fall 2017 undergraduate research assistant of the Title V Integrating a Culture of Academic and Research Engagement (I-CARE) grant recently presented at the Academy of Economics and Finance 55th Annual Conference in Houston on February 15th. 

Martina and Dr. Priti Verma, Professor of Finance co-wrote a paper titled "Cash Conversion Cycle, Firm Size and Profitability - Evidence from the Airline Industry".     

Student Advisory Board Members Announced

The College of Business Administration (CBA) Student Advisory Board held this first meeting for the new semester on Wednesday, January 31st.  Members of the board each represent a student organization housed within the CBA. Spring 2018 members are, left to right:  Luke Kotora, A.I.T.P, Camille Esquivel, Accounting Society, Nidia DeLeon, FMA and James Crabbe, Delta Sigma Pi. Students meet with college administration and faculty advisors to discuss opportunities for student involvement inside and outside the classroom. 

The Student Advisory Board is designed to keep the College of Business Administration and its programs closely attuned to the needs of current and future Texas A&M-Kingsville students and more specifically, those majoring in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), and assist in ensuring the programs and activities are productive and of high quality.
  

New Opportunity For Marketing Students To Diversify Engagement      
Creating a new digitally-based patron survey       
Students in Dr. John Cicala's Marketing Management and Analytics course are working with San Antonio ARTS, an online source for cultural events in and around San Antonio. They are creating a new digitally-based patron survey that includes social media elements.  The organization will email the new survey to event attendees and use the responses and feedback to generate information in assisting them on business decisions related to the marketing of the organization and future events.   
 
CBA Faculty Engage in Student Recruitment 
         
College of Business Administration faculty and student advisors are busy this spring visiting with area high schools from Houston down to the Valley to prepare students for their college experience as a Javelina. They discussed the variety of degrees offered and the endless career possibilities.  Faculty are the best brand ambassadors for the CBA and according to recent feedback "presentations were well received and enjoyed". 
 
AACSB 2018 Deans Conference 
Leading in the Academic Enterprise®: How can you successfully lead change?           
 
Dr. Natalya Delcoure,Dean and Dr. Jackson Nickerson, Associate Dean & Frahm Family Professor of Organization & Strategy, Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis co-presented at the 2018 AACSB Dean's Conference on February 8th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The session explored the decision making process and leading effective change in your business school.

How can you overcome faculty concerns? How can you navigate various constituencies to avoid political roadblocks and pitched battles? Participants were able to reflect on the case study of Texas A&M University-Kingsvillle and learn about a specific and successful approach for leading change in the academic enterprise.
