Free Tax Help at the Library
Tuesdays & Saturdays
February 3-April 7
Volunteers from AARP will be at the library on Tuesdays and Saturdays to assist senior citizens and low-income tax payers with their federal returns.
Online appointment registration is available and recommended, though walk-ins will be welcome if there is availability.
Make an appointment online or call the library at 603-886-6030 for more information.
Please Note: Tax assistance volunteers cannot help prepare any of the following:
- Schedule C over $10,000 in expenses,
- Complicated/lengthy Schedule D forms without proper paperwork,
- Schedule E,
- Other specialized forms.

Egg Workshop
Two sessions available (click on the time to register for a session):
Decorate your own holiday egg in the distinctive Lithuanian
margučiai
style! No artistic talent or prior experience required.
Registrants will use a wax-resist method on a real egg to create beautiful designs and a permanent keepsake. Classes are led by Jodi Smith, a resident of Lovell, Maine, who has been decorating eggs in various northern European wax-resist styles for over 30 years.

Join us for a discussion by Economic Development Specialist Warren Haggerty, who will provide information, tips and resources for starting or growing a small business. Services provided include one-on-one business counseling, loans and government contracting support.

"Souper Soup!" Contest and Soup Tasting

Have a favorite soup recipe? Enter your recipe in our "Souper Soup" Contest! Register for the event below, and on Wednesday, March 7, bring your hot soup in a crockpot with a ladle by 6:30pm. Library visitors will sample soups and vote for their favorite recipe, and the soup with the most votes will win our Grand Prize.
All are invited to come sample delicious soup!!

DCU Free Concert Series
Òran Mór: Traditional Irish Music
Saturday, March 10 @ 2pm
(Snow Date: March 11)
Join us on March 10 and kick off an early St. Patrick's Day celebration with music by Òran Mór. Musicians Peter Hale and Dave Hallowell "share many of your favorites and encourage you to sing along...tunes interweave with songs, from jigs, reels, hornpipes and set dances...to more contemporary or further flung melodies and beats...we mix it up to keep the music flowing."
The concert is free thanks to a generous grant from the Digital Credit Union.

How to Develop a Meditation Practice

Cookbook and Recipe Club

Love to cook and bake? Join our club! Choose a recipe to cook or bake from the monthly theme choice, bring your culinary delight. its recipe, and an empty tummy, to the meeting for others to share. Discuss what you liked (and what you didn't) about your recipe.
This month's theme is: Bread!
From fluffy yeast breads to sweet quick breads, all variations of bread are acceptable. Happy baking!!

Concert:
Tutto a Dio Lithuanian Ensemble

Lithuanian ensemble
Tutto a Dio will present a concert sampling different genres from baroque and classical to modern compositions using vocals, viola and accordion. This highly unique combination of instruments is unique to Lithuania, and is likely one of the most uncommon ensembles in the world.

Songs of Emigration:
Storytelling Through Traditional Irish Music
Join us for a traditional Irish music concert performed by Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki. Through song, Jordan relays some of the adventures, misadventures and emotions experienced by Irish emigrants, and discusses the historical context of each song while interspersing tunes from Ireland that have, over the years, made their way into New England's musical repertoire.
This program is made possible by a grant from the NH Humanities.

Create a Dish Garden

Create a beautiful dish garden using long-lasting succulent plants. Hosted by Darlene, owner of Anne's Florals and Gifts, this workshop provides all materials necessary to create your own dish garden.

Noteworthy Continuing Drop-In Events
Stories with Stuffies (through March 13): Bring your favorite stuffed animal for stories at the library every Tuesday! All ages welcome. Wearing pajamas is highly encouraged!
Sensory Playtime:
Explore the senses through play on Wednesday mornings. Drop in between 10 and 11. Recommended for ages 3-5. Younger children welcome at caretakers' discretion.

Feeling a little analog? Beginning Monday, March 19, the library's entire catalog of board games will be at your teen's disposal. There will be snacks and a D&D campaign run by Teen Services Librarian James.

Friends of the Library Meeting

A special relationship...
Become a Friend of the Rodgers Memorial Library by joining a group of volunteers who support a variety of activities including the purchase of the 3D Printer, the Telescope, learning modules and other equipment for the children's room; award the Leonard A. Smith Memorial Scholarship; provide funding for the Summer Reading Program, movie licenses, Santa photos, author forums and a variety of Humanities Council programs.
Choose from activities including being a Santa's Helper, Second Hand Prose "librarians", celebrating National Library Week with library staff, or participate in a variety of other opportunities.
The Friends have supported the Hudson library system for over 35 years and were instrumental in focusing on the need to build a new home for expanded services which culminated in the construction and opening of the new library donated by the Rodgers family in 2009.
The Friends are a 501c(3) organization, have business meetings five times a year to plan for activities and form necessary sub-committees. Tax-deductible annual membership dues are $10 (individual), $20 (family), $30 (patron) or $50 (business).
