MNsure, Other State Exchange Top Feds on Enrollment

From the MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE: Insurance enrollment via state-based health insurance exchanges such as Minnesota's MNsure held steady for 2018, while sign-ups declined about 5 percent across the much larger group of states using the federal government's HealthCare.gov website. The findings by the National Academy for State Health Policy raise a question about whether the intensity of outreach campaigns contributed to the difference, since the Trump administration limited marketing for the federal exchange while MNsure and other state-based groups maintained efforts.

70 Years of Saving Lives

Memorial Blood Centers
In 2018, Memorial Blood Centers celebrates 70 years of saving lives in our community.

Founded in 1948 to honor those who gave their lives during World War II, Memorial Blood Centers, then known as the Minneapolis War Memorial Blood Bank, ensured a safe and stable supply of blood for patients in area hospitals. In the last 70 years our community has grown, and so has the need for blood. Memorial Blood Centers is here to serve the community.

The need for blood is constant, but the supply is not. Only volunteer blood donors can make a life-saving difference to someone in need. Step up to give blood at a blood drive or donor center in your neighborhood and help save lives. Donating blood is convenient and safe when you are:
    • In good health
    • Free of antibiotics for 24 hours, unless taken daily for a skin condition
    • Symptom-free for at least 3 days following a cold or a flu
    • 17 years or older-16 with written parental consent (form available at MBC.ORG)
To find a blood drive or donor center nearest you, visit Memorial Blood Center  online , or see upcoming blood drives in your area listed below. To register, go to MBC.ORG , or contact the sponsoring organization directly. While walk-in donors are always welcome, they encourage appointments be made in advance. You can also donate at a donor center, sponsor your own blood drive, or gather friends to donate together at a Donor Day event at one of our blood centers.

Leadership Shakopee 2018

Have you been wondering if Leadership Shakopee is the right fit for you? This is what 2017 class graduate, Rodney Southwood, President & CEO of Freight Management Logistics, has to say about Leadership Shakopee.

Someone once said to me "Build your own dreams or someone else will hire you to build theirs"

When we had the opportunity to sign up for this class I was certain I wouldn't have the time for it and thought, how could this possibly benefit me?

Well I must say I have been rewarded with lifelong friends and a deeper understanding of Shakopee businesses and their leaders. From the Jail to the Courthouse, to the Casino we went and learned as a group, asked questions, laughed and bonded! This one-day event actually became a day, each month, I got excited about. (I even rearranged my travel schedule so as to not miss a class)

This should be on any serious Management or Leader's radar as a way to inject yourself into the fabric of a community, while furthering your business acumen with expertise and other like-minded individuals!

Opportunity knocks but it has never been known to turn the handle and walk in. To those thinking about enrolling I would say "you don't get wet if you don't jump in the pool". Open the door, walk in, the waters warm, and a year's worth of genuine, life changing experiences are waiting for you!
