Recap of the Educational Opportunities offered at ICGC in 2018

We were blessed to spend another year with our Imam, Sheikh Hossam Musa who taught us about the beautiful example of our beloved prophet (saw) through his Bimonthly Seerah series, how to improve our character through his weekly Riyadh Us Saliheen series, inspired us to go on Umrah with his “Three Blessed Cities” Recap, provided a Spiritually Uplifting Ramadan, and reminded us of the importance of Hajj through his Hajj Preparation session. May Allah SWT bless our dear Imam for truly tying our hearts to the House of Allah SWT….

Other highlights of the year included :

In January , we were honored to learn about “Inheritance in Islam” from Brothers Ahsan Zafar and Nadeem Quraishi.

In March , Sheikh Yusuf Estes visited our Community to share insights from his “Journey to Islam”. Habeeb Quadri also visited us for an important discussion about raising our youth, titled “Growing Up - Who said it was Easy?”

In April, we had an important “End of Life Care” Session with community Physicians- Junaid Malik, Tehmina Naz, Mohammad Sheatt, Mohammad Ashraf, Mahmoud Charif, Aman Ahmed, with legal aspects covered by Nadeem Quraishi, and spiritual aspects covered by Imam Musa.
Also in April, Sisters Hafiza Docraat and Warda Safdar led a “Janaza Preparation Workshop,” and Ustadh Ubaydullah Evans visited ICGC to discuss “Contributions of African American Muslims- Past, Present, and Future.”

May and June , during Ramadan with Imam Musa’s heart transforming Quranic recitations, enlightening Taraweeh khatiras, and inspiring Fajr reminders.  We were also blessed to have a “Women’s Ramadan Halaqa” led by Sisters Fatima Bhatti and Dima Almeniawi, as well as a high school “Boys Halaqa” led by Hafidh Zohabe Bakali

Summer 2018, was further enriched with Ustadh Faraz Malik, who offered a full and part time Arabic Intensive, a Tafsir of Surah Hujaraat and Surah Yaseen, weekly Halaqas with the youth about “Being Muslim” and with Young Professionals about “Honest Talk.” He also led a workshop for the youth covering the “essentials of Wudu and Tahara.”

Mufti Hussain Kamani visited us in August with a Qalam Intensive Workshop called “Hadith Intensive”

ISNA conference was held again this year in October covering “Trials and Tribulations - A Believer’s Response” with guest speakers Dr. Yasir Qadhi, Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Ustadha Ieasha Prime, Imam Wazir Ali, Saba Syed, Habeeb Quadri, Safaa Zarzour, and our own Imam Musa

Sheikh Yusuf Estes visited ICGC again in November with a collaborative session with our new Muslims discussing “Challenges After Accepting Islam”

In December Ustadha Noura Shamma blessed us with a visit to cover “Wives of the Prophet.” We were also honored in December with a weekend visit from an esteemed scholar, Sheikh Dr. Salah Al-Sawy- who covered: “Love of Prophet (saw),” “Open Q&A/ Fatwa Night,” & “Fiqh of American Muslim Issues.”

All of these programs were made possible by the permission and mercy of Allah SWT, and as a community we are truly blessed. We pray that the esteemed scholars, presenters, staff, volunteers, and leadership who worked to make these sessions successful be rewarded by Allah SWT.
