The Story: Sibling rivalry, adultery, and dungeons - The Lion in Winter, by James Goldman, is a modern-day classic. Comedic in tone, dramatic in action - the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family, who are locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry's paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, "Every family has its ups and downs," and this royal family is no exception. The Lion in Winter 1968 film was based on the Broadway play and included Peter O'Toole, Katharine Hepburn, John Castle, Anthony Hopkins, and Timothy Dalton in the coveted roles, earning three Academy Awards.

As You Like It is one of Shakespeare's best loved comedies. The most recognizable line from the play begins "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances..." vocalizes the character Jaques in the play. In casting the show, Director Maggie Bausch sought people "who can sing, dance, or play a musical instrument because this is one of the most musical of Shakespeare's works" she excitedly remarks. The show is being produced by Don Richardson, a longtime volunteer with many years of experience at FCT both on stage and off stage.

Set Engineering, Set Painting and Set Construction positions are open for  My Fair Lady. The show will be performed May 3 to May 19, 2019. When Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady opened on Broadway, it collected six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, while the film version took home eight Oscars, including Best Picture. Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is that rare musical by which all others are measured. The tale of a cockney flower girl transformed into an elegant lady features some of musical theatre's greatest scores and beautiful sets.
