TOMORROW: Building Better Work Relationships
Lunch & Learn
Wednesday, January 9, Noon - 1pm
St. Leo University
4650 NW 39th Pl B, Gainesville

Kick off 2019 with a powerful lunch and learn presented by Jennifer Webb designed to share tools for building rapport, overcoming conflict and negativity, and building trust and camaraderie.

Research indicates people vote for, buy from and hire based on an intangible essence, they like or trust the person they are dealing with…it’s the chemistry! Effective communication coupled with emotional intelligence is the key ingredient that generates credibility, changes perception and fosters allegiance. And it increases profits, peak performance and helps outperform the competition.

Join us for a high-energy program that teaches how to influence people, communicate using non-verbal skills and that solidifies what author Daniel Goleman said: 90% of our success in life comes from our Emotional Quotient (EQ) and only 10% from our IQ!

Registration is $10 for Chamber members, $20 for non-members and lunch is included.  Seats are limited for this event so be sure to  register today to reserve your seat.

The 2019 Lunch & Learn Series is sponsored by Carr, Riggs & Ingram (CRI).

EVENT RECAP
Distinguished Speaker Luncheon featuring
Phoebe Cade Miles
Phoebe discussed how connections and creativity can transform a community

The Chamber was delighted to host Phoebe Cade Miles as our December Distinguished Speaker on Tuesday, December 11 at the Cade Museum for Creativity and Innovation. Phoebe gave the packed house insight into how honoring her father’s legacy became today’s Cade, and how connections and creativity are transforming greater Gainesville.

The journey to get the Cade off the ground was anything but straightforward, reported Phoebe. Originally conceived as a Studebaker museum—Robert Cade was famously a collector of Studebakers—and an ode to the “highway of progress,” the Cade underwent many conceptual designs before the final concept was agreed upon. Dr. Cade was famous for his belief that “creativity is just connecting things,” and the Cade’s mission of “transforming communities by inspiring and equipping future inventors, entrepreneurs and visionaries” truly reflects that spirit. Phoebe and her husband Richard live in Washington, D.C., but moved to Gainesville for the two years it took to bring the vision to life. Today, the Cades remain committed to the Cade’s mission. A key part of that effort, she said, is helping close our community’s income disparity gap, and provide less-advantaged children with the same opportunities she had as the youngest child of a creative scientist.

A Q&A from the enthralled audience followed Phoebe’s presentation, with questions about the inner workings of the museum and plans for expansion.

2018 was an inspiring year with our Distinguished Speakers, and planning is in full swing for 2019. On Monday, February 11, we welcome GRU General Manager Ed Bielarski and on Monday, March 4, we host State Rep. Ted Yoho. Visit Events at  www.gainesvillechamber.com for all of our upcoming events and to register for Distinguished Speaker lunches.

The Greater Gainesville Chamber’s Distinguished Speaker Luncheons bring prominent leaders to engage with Chamber members in a small, informal setting. These distinguished leaders–which have included policymakers and leaders at the local, state and national level—provide Chamber members perspectives on a wide range of topics of interest to our community.
