Professor Mark Vesligaj Receives a Fulbright Award
 Congratulations to
Professor Mark Vesligaj who has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminar award to Russia. The Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries and is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.
In March, Professor Vesligaj will travel with four other American scholars to St. Petersburg, Moscow and Tver to focus on the role of community colleges in higher education and within the local community. Read more about the award here and here.

Professional Development Day focuses on Mental Health
Faculty and staff were treated to a moving and informative Professional Development Day on February 1. The day was filled with speakers and panels that addressed "Building a Positive Classroom Culture that Supports Students' Academic and Social-Emotional Needs." It included a key note speech by Amanda Ferrari of Reliance Health, and forums by students, staff, and faculty. The day concluded with a resource forum.

Three Rivers honors Black History Month with Several Programs
Three Rivers presented a variety of special events to celebrate Black History Month. There was a book signing and reading by prominent Norwich author, Lottie Scott. Sanofka Education and Leadership, Inc. and Three Rivers hosted an artistic production of Black History Month followed by an awards ceremony that honors eight local women who make a difference in the lives African American students. Read about it here. The final event of the month was a LGBTQ and Black History Trivia Night, which was co-sponsored by outCT.
A poetry reading and signing by Professor Frederick Douglas Knowles II, who is also Hartford's first poet laureate, was rescheduled due to snowy weather and will be held March 20.

Standardized patients for Simulation Education has been provided by the Three Rivers College Foundation for the past two years.
These actors/actresses serve as patients to create a real nurse-patient interaction for our students.
