Message from Edward Phillips, Chapter President
Partner: EisnerAmper LLP

It's been a great two years. We turned over and re-energized our Board, upgraded the bar offerings at our events, and even found a new venue for our holiday party.  In fact, it was so great, the Board took steps to make sure nobody ever has this much fun again.

Our chapter is adopting new bylaws. Aside from periodic refreshes to
make sure our governing documents are up to date, the most significant
changes are at the top. Going forward, the President will serve for only one year, but it will become more of a team sport. We will now have a President-elect, so nobody steps into the job cold. I want to thank Inez Markovich of McCarter & English, Evan Miller of Bayard, Michael Goodman of SSG, Mark Felger of Cozen and Joe Mintz from Blank Rome. They stepped forward to volunteer for a fairly protracted process and put in a lot of time and effort in pulling together the rewrite.

We have four new people joining the Board for 2019, all of whom are
stepping into some big shoes to fill. I'd like to thank Tom Beane of Beane Associates, Bill Burnett of Flaster/Greenberg, Linda McDonough of 50Words and Robyn Pollack of Trellis Consulting for their service and dedication to the Philadelphia/Wilmington Chapter. Tom served several tours of duty as our Treasurer. Bill did the same as Secretary. Robyn spent many years as our VP of Marketing and Communications. Lastly, Linda, as our Immediate Past Chair, rolls off after having served as our President. Our chapter's new Board members are Evan Miller of Bayard, Joe Barry of Young Conaway, DJ Krystopa of Bibby Financial and Lyndsay Rowland of Starfield & Smith.

Taking over for me next year is Joe Mintz of Blank Rome. Joe served
as our inaugural NextGen Chair and has been our VP of Programming for
the past several years. Joe will bring his energy and his own unique
style and talents to the chapter. Mark Felger has been the Co-chair
of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Symposium the past two years and in
recognition for all his hard work and administrative capabilities,
Mark is our new President-elect. Since our written records are
somewhat suspect, we think he will be the first person from Wilmington
to lead our chapter when he takes over in 2020.

Our other officers and committee chairs for 2019 are:

Treasurer-Stan Mastil-Gavin/Solmonese
Secretary-Harry Giacometti-Flaster/Greenberg
VP Programming-Ron Gellert-Gellert Scali, Busenkell & Brown
VP Marketing/Communications-Steve Kortanek-Drinker Biddle
VP Membership-Monique DiSabatino-Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr
Charity/Community Service-Neil Gupta-SSG Capital Advisors
NOW-Rachel Mauceri-Morgan Lewis
Sponsorship-DJ Krystopa-Bibby Financial
NextGen-Matt Arden-SSG Capital Advisors

If you want to be more involved in the chapter, reach out to the
people listed above and tell them you want to be on their committee.
You can find everybody's contact information in the TMA Turnaround
Directory.  Just enter the member name, and you're on your way.

I want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to Doug Leney of
Archer and Ron Gellert, our new VP of programming.  After
many years of holding our joint holiday party with the CFA in the same
place, I suggested we look into finding a new location.  The
Programming Committee, after vetting several facilities, selected The
Racquet Club of Philadelphia.  Doug and Ron, under the guidance and
watchful eye of Joe Mintz, did a fabulous job of negotiating the
entire event.  Based on the feedback so far, it appears a great time
was had by those who attended.

As for me, I get to hang around the Chapter Board (but keep quiet) for
two more years (down from four under the old bylaws).  Next year, I
serve as Chair, and the year after as Immediate Past Chair.  Don't
worry that I won't have enough to do.  At the TMA Annual in September,
I was elected as the incoming Vice Chair of the Chapter Presidents'
Council (CPC) and hope I can take what worked in our chapter and
spread it around TMA Global.  I'm looking forward to working with my
good friend, former TMA New Jersey President, Janey Mitnick, who will
be the Chair of the CPC next year.

Lastly, for those who missed it, our former Chapter President, Jeffrey
Hampton of Saul Ewing, is the incoming President of TMA Global.
Jeffrey continues our tradition of leadership at the global level.
Three of the past six TMA Global Presidents have been from the
Philadelphia/Wilmington Chapter.

Here's wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
