Do come along - and maybe bring your family and neighbours? -  to this family-friendly tree planting. The area is at the entrance to the reserve, at the top of the site, has easy access, flat terrain and is close to the road.

This planting is part of Scenic Rim Regional Council's Active and Healthy program, which organises a range of activities throughout the region. TM Landcare regularly hosts planting days, and now we're partnering with Council to organise this event at The Shelf Road site on 30th March.

The Shelf Project is a collaboration between Energex, TM Landcare and Scenic Rim Regional Council. Works commenced in 2015 to revegetate 11ha at the Council Environmental Reserve on the eastern side of The Shelf Road. It is designed to improve the natural values of the property and to offset Energex's vegetation clearing for essential electrical infrastructure in the region. Landscape Conservation (Land Management Contractors) are the project managers.

The project will be completed by June 2019. During the three years of its development, the contractors have controlled invasive weeds and planted over 8000 native tubestock. Across the whole site, the young trees are already showing good growth.  At the conclusion of the project the maintenance of the site will be handed back to Council and will become a public asset.

A community planting day, held on the site in 2016 for the local residents, was very well attended. The upcoming final planting will add to the already significant outcomes of that day's work, will conclude the current work by Energex and "put the feather in the cap" of this lovely site.
