Celebrate NYE at The Inn and Broad Table Tavern!

Don't miss the New Year's Eve celebration at The Inn at Swarthmore and Broad Table Tavern from 9 pm until 1 am. Enjoy a delicious meal then dance the night away to the sounds of DJ Tony Prep! Toast to a New Year with their $30 bottomless champagne special. Reservations may be made with the Broad Table Tavern host at 610-543-7500.

How about an upgrade? Forget the hassle of driving or finding a way back home, book the NYE Package at the Inn which will include unlimited champagne all night plus party favors and breakfast the following morning.
Come Run, Come All to the SRA New Year's Day 5K & Kids Races
Kick off 2019 in one of the best ways possible - by joining the Swarthmore Recreation Association for its annual New Year's Day 5K and Kids Races on Tuesday, January 1.   Race-day registration starts at 9 am at the college's Lamb-Miller Field House. The 5K starts at 10:30 am and winds through Swarthmore in a flat and fast course that ends with a lap at the college track. Kids' races, also on the track, start at approximately 11:30 am for children ages 2 through 13.  

Registration is $25 in advance and $30 on race day, with 5K registrants receiving long-sleeve tech T-shirts. Post-race refreshments will be served, and unique medals of etched wood are awarded to the top two finishers in each age category. Kids' races are free, and ribbons will be awarded to youth participants.

Gallery on Park will be having a First Friday opening reception for January featured artist, Michael Criston. This exhibition entitled "Touch" includes dynamic black and white mono prints that explore the experience of human touch. Meet the artist and enjoy wine with light refreshments.

Houseplant Hospital

Houseplant Hospital is pleased to welcome Rose Valley artist Pete Prown who will paint live at the shop on First Friday from 6 to 8:30 pm. Specializing in landscape and still-life genres, Pete will happily answer your questions about oil-painting style and technique. He also has framed original work available to purchase. Free to attend, come on by!

Just in time for 2019, the Swarthmore Campus & Community Store will present "Make Your Resolutions Stick: How to Sustain Supportive Habits." This w orkshop will be led by Swarthmore-based Leadership and Life Coach Susanna Hooper starting at 5:30 pm.

Comfort Food Weekend at the Swarthmore Co-Op
Join the Swarthmore Co-Op for a winter weekend of comfort food featuring favorites like house-made soups, mac-n-cheese, and made-to-order gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. They will also offer warm winter drinks, and promotions on comfort foods throughout the store. Plan on stopping by on January 19 from 11 am - 3 pm for a delicious break from winter!

Video Lecture Series: Shakespeare - Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies
Thursdays, January 3 through June 6 starting at 10 am in the Council Room 
A video lecture series on the plays of Shakespeare, accompanied by film adaptations of those plays. Each week, the Library will show either a film adaptation of a Shakespeare play or the video lecture on that play by award-winning Professor Peter Saccio of Dartmouth College. 

The Food for Thought Cookbook Club 
4th Monday of each month ~ January 28 at 5:30 pm
The Cookbook Club is back! You're invited to cook recipes from the selected cookbook and bring a prepared dish for sharing at the meeting. A discussion about the recipes will accompany our meal. 

Interested in Supporting SwPL?
The Friends of the Swarthmore Public Library is a volunteer organization dedicated to raising funds, sponsoring special events, and hosting popular used book sales. The Friends will hold their Annual Meeting on February 7 at 7 pm. All are welcome to attend and learn more!
