This is a short school week for the students as there is no school on Friday, March 15. This week is followed by spring break which runs March 18-22. Classes will resume on schedule, Monday, March 25.
I have used this space over the last several weeks reminding families about our 2019 Parent Survey. It will be taken down this coming Friday, March 15. If you have a student at CCHS and still have not taken the survey, please do so in the next couple of days. Thank you again as the combined results directly influence our school practices.
Take the survey I know everyone is looking forward to a well earned spring break. However, we still have four days left in the third quarter and I encourage all of our Bears to make the most of them. Please take advantage of each day of instruction as April will begin our annual testing season.
Have a great week!

Cypress Creek's new FFA Chapter participated in the Apopka land judging competition.
FFA members attended a land judging competition at Magnolia Park in Apopka last week. The competition required that students evaluate different soils and lands for their agricultural, conservation, and homebuilding use. This was the first time our FFA leadership team attended this event as part of Cypress Creek's new agricultural science program. They even completed the competition in the pouring, cold rain!
We are very proud of our students' successes this year plus their serious dedication and help in building the new FFA program. Congratulations Cypress Creek FFA!
FFA leadership team at the Apopka competition. Students:
Jose De La Torre, Govanna De Sa Calacia, Febbie Derisma, Rose Diaz-Manrique, Olivia King, Justin Magorrian, Tasnia Ramisa, and
Brian Vega. The students were at the competition with their FFA advisor,
Ms. Bernard.

Talented Bears: Art Work at the Central Florida Fair

One truly amazing robotics project by Ibrahim K!
Ibrahim K's project used an EEG sensor and a bluetooth adapter on an Arduino. As seen below, he can cause the 3D printed hand to open and close its fingers just by
thinking about it!

World Languages: French Students Celebrate Mardi Gras
|
French with Ms. Sedom
Last Tuesday, Ms. Sedom's French students had a great time while running a presentation about Mardi Gras, playing a trivia game, throwing beads, and creating their own masks both during class and during French Club. French colonists controlled New Orleans in its early history where Mardi Gras is still celebrated today in a very big way. The celebration of Mardi Gras came to North America from France where it has been celebrated since the Middle Ages.

The economic benefits from an education.
The United States Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics just released their analysis of educational attainment comparing weekly earnings & jobless rates for 2018. What they found is that the same inverse relationship held once again last year: earnings rise with greater levels of education while the odds of being out of work fall.
