BGT Newsletter Heading
December 2019
Greetings From the Carson Clan!

It's been a whirlwind this year with so much going on in our family and with our BGT schedule, too.  I hope you are having a marvelous Christmas season with much celebration.  We look forward to a fabulous New Year and productive 2020!

Here's a "quick" Christmas greeting and update from our family with pictures to show they are all well and living life to the fullest.  Also, a ministry update below...

Charlie: Still plugging away on his equipment projects with Building Technologies Services; staying connected with Living Water International and dear friends; being dad to three sons and PopPop to four grandkids (Mary Kate, Bethany, Ginny, Micah).

Paulette: Also very active as mom, wife, grandma (Buni - "granny" in Romanian) to four great grandkids; still President and Director of BGT for almost 18 years; two trips to Romania this year; two awesome conferences in November - Timisoara and Sibiu, where we trained 85 Bible study group leaders and provided them with our newly produced Romanian Bible study resources - Beloved Disciple: The Life and Ministry of John, by Beth Moore.  So thankful we were able to supply them with enough resources for 1000 women throughout Romania and the Republic of Moldova.  Very successful trip because of an awesome friend and travel buddy, Debby Ursu.  We traveled about 500 miles in two weeks (see more details and pics in the next section below).  Paulette served as President of the Republican Women of Trinity County and was re-elected as President for 2020 - great team of ladies on the Executive Board! Thanks to Chairman James Dickey of the Republican Party of Texas to come and install the new officers! Am still the President of Voices 4 Special Needs, a nonprofit to educate community leaders, legislators and to advocate for SN families.

Caleb: Super busy 20 year old who loves progressing through his Taekwondo skills to reach his Decided Brown belt this month; loving his weekly horse-riding at Living Water Equine Services; gathering with his pals on Wednesday evenings at church Student Ministries; flying his very first airplane thanks to the Flying Vikings ministry for Special Needs young people; starting back this Fall with speech therapy at SFA twice a week; and doing a bunch of other activities and chores.  He keeps us hopping!  Our life's theme song remains, "On the Road Again..."

David, Stephanie and Micah:  David and gang are on their last year of a tour in Guam as a miltary family.  It's been a challenge in many ways to adjust to island life and a new phase of his Air Force career, but the Lord has given great favor and blessing during this assignment.  David's passion to serve as a Godly husband and Dad gives him the foundation to serve with integrity and honor for our country.  After 15 years and four assignments, David was promoted to Lt Colonel on November 27th.  Super exciting time for them!  Stephanie is a fabulous mom to our only grandson, Micah, who turned three on Nov 1st.  Not only does she operate at high speed to keep up with Micah, she also serves on a board to bless and reach out to other military wives.  Recently, she started a prayer group / fellowship / exercise group for ladies.  Without actually "working" in her profession in Counseling / Family ministries, Stephanie daily lives out that role within their church, with military wives and with her network of friends.  We are thrilled to have her as a daughter-in-love who passionately supports and cares for David and Micah.  Micah has two switches: "On" at full throttle and sleeping.  Stephanie's additional training as a Zumba instructor really comes in handy with their high energy lifestyle.  Micah loves cars, planes and trains, with a fabulous vocabulary as a three year old!  The rainbow over his head in the photo below is a beautiful symbol of such promise and blessing over his life.  Looking forward to seeing them when the door opens to return to the Mainland!

Kyle, Debbie, Mary Kate, Bethany, Ginny:  Kyle continues as Owner of his successful heavy equipment business (DIY Equipment), while being active as a dedicated husband, dad and is very involved with Bible study and Men's ministry at their church.  Debbie made a career change when she began a new job this Fall as the Middle School Counselor in the Grand Saline ISD. She's loving this new transition and opportunity to daily live out her Christian faith and testimony with the staff and kids!  She is still very actively connected with their three beautiful and super busy daughters, in spite of the fact that Kyle and she are now enjoying the "Empty Nest"  season of life.  We adore our daughter-in-love who loves and cares for her family well.  Mary Kate relocated this year back to Texas (the freezing winters in Indiana were an incentive to head back to the best state in America!)  She currently works as a writer for Fox 4 News in Dallas and enjoys hanging out with new friends.  Bethany continues her college courses at UT Tyler and pursuing a degree in Speech and Language Pathology/Communication Disorders. She loves being involved in her sorority and hanging out with a ton of friends.  She works part time at a great Italian restaurant in Flint. Seriously busy gal!  Ginny graduated with honors this May from Alba Golden ISD, and was considered one of the best athletes in several sports, cheer leading and student activities.  She was routinely on the front page of the regional newspapers throughout her Senior year.  She headed to college this Fall at Texas State University in San Marcos, and also joined a sorority.  She loves her close knit group of friends.  Sisters: "All for one and one for all!"  Adore these grand-gals!

WE WISH YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Some photos from the November trip to Romania

First, a brief testimony from Debby Ursu, my travel buddy / awesome ministry pal:

"What an exciting and blessed mission traveling with Paulette Carson the past 2 weeks. We traveled 800 km, did 2 conferences in 2 cities.  Paulette's Beautiful Gate Translations blessed 85 ladies with Bible study materials enough for group study. In all she provided books for 1,000 ladies! Isn't that awesome? We met some active, Godly brothers and sisters, enjoyed lunch with some fellow Americans together with King Florin Cioba of the Roma of Romania, made new friends from Sibiu, Medias, Sighisoara, and Chisinau, and had Thanksgiving dinner complete with turkey and sweet potatoes. All glory to God for His grace, guidance and protection!"

In addition...
Debby and I also set up our new storage room (Thank you, Mircea Deznan, for your gracious support and provision!) and did a full inventory of our resources and supplies.  We met several times with the bank, accountant, and lawyer for our Romanian Association, and made two trips to Arad to load up Debby's vehicle with Bible study books and DVD sets for two conferences.

We had a blessed time reconnecting with several long time friends, met a ton of new friends and got to visit the newly opened ministry/day center/therapy group for Special Needs children in Timisoara called Little Treasures.  What a joy to watch this precious ministry come to fruition as a result of the passion and vision of Dawn Elenbaas and Alina Birgean!

A huge THANK YOU to Alina Birgean for coordinating the Timisoara conference, and for Corina and Darius for hosting it at their church.  Another huge THANK YOU to Tatiana Danilenco for coordinating the Sibiu conference, and for Michael and Mihaela for hosting it at their church.

So very thankful for all these years of God's faithfulness to protect and bless Beautiful Gate Translations, in the midst of challenges and great blessings.  Looking forward to what lies ahead - with full trust that the Lord will always choose for our highest good!
With JOY in the Lord,
Paulette
