Just a quick note to thank everyone for supporting SaveGirdValley.com this year. You made a positive difference!

As you know, in November Measure EE, the sixth attempt since 1978 to build a high school in Fallbrook's Gird Valley,
los t
by a huge margin.

A strong and broad  coalition voted NO on Measure EE, an All Star list of Democrats, Republicans, taxpayer advocates, teachers and community leaders committed to education and quality of life in North San Diego County. Impressive.

It is now clear to everyone that this inconveniently located site in Gird Valley is simply a non-starter and should be traded or sold. What are your thoughts on this? We'd like to hear from you. Send your ideas to [email protected]

Beyond Measure EE, the election changed the Bonsall Unified School Board. Dr. Timothy Coen and Dr. SylviaTucker are leaving and we thank them for their many years of dedicated service to the community. The Board now consists of Lou Riddle (president), Dick Olson (clerk), Larissa Anderson, Michael Gaddis and Roger Merchat. The new Board's first regular  meeting in December went well and we wish them the best.

In late December, the courts ruled that mega-developers in conflict with the San Diego County General Plan cannot offset their negative environmental impacts via the use of controversial "carbon credits"  sourced offshore . This ruling stalls several large developments including Lilac Hills Ranch (LHR).

Congratulations on the ruling to the Sierra Club, Golden Door and all those who fought so hard to protect what we love about San Diego's North County.

We continue to marvel at the progress being made in the heart of Gird Valley by the wonderful crew at Monserate Winery. We are thrilled with how quickly the vines were planted on the western side of Gird Road and the landscaping around the irrigation pond and at the north end of the property is lovely. Thankfully,  the property's sycamores and the old eucalyptus grove along Gird Road were trimmed out before the December storms hit so few limbs were lost.

We love watching the vines grow and look forward to seeing the new winery and restaurant building soon!
