Shell behind test-run VLCC crude oil export out of US' LOOP terminal, market sources say

The Louisiana Offshore Oil Port said late Monday it "has moored a VLCC and initiated its detailed test and checkout procedure." The Shaden will receive crude from LOOP's newly bidirectional pipeline connecting LOOP's onshore infrastructure with an offshore deepwater mooring station. Market sources said Shell chartered the Shaden, a Saudi Arabian-flagged VLCC owned by Bahri (the top VLCC owner globally) that entered service at the end of 2017, and will take the crude into its refining system. Market sources were split on what grade Shell is taking, with two saying offshore Gulf of Mexico, Shell-produced Mars and another two saying the crude blend LOOP Sour. Both Shell and LOOP declined to comment.  Read more...

Russia Keeps 2018 Brent Outlook In The $50-$60 Range

Oilprice.com, February 14, 2018: Russian Minister Alexander Novak does not plan to change his 2018 barrel price outlook currently at the $50 to $60 level, according to a new report by TASS.
"My outlook is unchanged, my estimations for average [oil] price for 2018 have always been between $50 and $60 [per barrel]," Novak said. April 2018 deliveries for Brent oil futures currently cost $62.34 a barrel, but the minister's range refers to the yearly average.
Since the start of the OPEC-Russia production cut deal, Russia's oil companies and government have received the equivalent of around $41.5 billion more in proceeds, thanks to the higher oil prices, Novak said on Tuesday.
Russia is cutting 300,000 bpd as part of the pact with OPEC, and although there have been voices and speculation that some Russian companies are unhappy with the agreement that hampers their production expansion plans, Moscow has been keeping its end of the deal so far.  Read more...

Reuters.com, February 14, 2018: RIYADH (Reuters) - Russia is seeking to finalize multi-million-dollar investment deals with Saudi Arabia in the next three months including partnerships with state oil giant Aramco, Russia's top state investment officer said on Wednesday.   Russian banks and a Russian-Chinese investment fund are also keen to take part in Aramco's initial public offering (IPO), the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, told reporters, reiterating comments he made last month.  The move is aimed at strengthening energy ties between the two major oil producers. Dmitriev told Reuters last month that there was great interest in the Aramco IPO from Russian pension funds and Chinese partners.
"There are a number of investors who would like to invest in the Aramco IPO, including several banks," Dmitriev said on Wednesday.  "Not only this, we have a Russia-China investment fund, and through that Russia-China investment fund we see a major interest in the Aramco IPO from a number of leading Chinese institutions."  Read more...
Russian Direct Investment Fund important bridge between Russia and Saudi Arabia - minister

Tass.com, February 14, 2018: RIYADH, February 14. /TASS/. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) is an important element of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia, Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid al-Falih said on Wednesday.
"As an energy minister of Saudi Arabia I can say that RDIF is an important bridge between Russia and Saudi Arabia," al-Falih said. "Therefore the role that RDIF plays in Russia and the role that PIF [the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia - TASS] and Saudi Aramco play from our side, introducing companies to each other, pursuing investment deals, de-risking investment through better information, making sure that market exists for their products cannot be overemphasized," the minister noted.
"RDIF has been willing and able to co-invest with the PIF in many profitable opportunities, that bring economic returns to the PIF," al-Falih said. It is also highly significant that RDIF provides information and facilitates access to investment opportunities, "allowing to prioritize what is more ready, and what is the right risk/return tradeoff," the minister added.   Read more...
Japan seeks to increase investment in Russian economy

Tass.com, February 14, 2018: MOSCOW, February 14. /TASS/. Tokyo considers its current investment in Russia's economy to be insufficient and seeks to increase it, Japanese Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki said at a roundtable dedicated to the bilateral year of Japan and Russia and regional cooperation between the two countries. "Many people often say that Japan's investment in Russia amounts only to two percent. However, this does not include the Japanese companies' contribution to the Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2 projects, machine building and other areas," the ambassador said. "This data is cited only when the talk is about the Advanced Development Territory, particularly referring to direct investment in Russia's Far East. This number does not fully reflect Japan's investment," he added.
"However, I would not say that the current investment is sufficient. We still have work to do," Toyohisa Kozuki said.  Read more...

FashionNet: Russia's Bid To Relaunch Its Fashion Industry

Forbes, February 14, 2018: Russia dominates news headlines and arts textbooks. Vodka, ballet, literature... fashion?! For heritage brands, street-style collaborations became the only way to keep the luxury-fatigued consumers engaged. Retailers faced a business reality wherein a slump in in-store purchases has become "the forever trend" thanks to e-commerce. The fashion system has hit industry-wide turbulence. Sometimes, the most apt solutions come from unexpected places. Russia has emerged as a potential fashion economy savior with its FashionNet project launched at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia in Moscow, as part of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).  Read more...
